This was number four in my compostion series in Art 4I did it kind of last minute, so it's not as good as my others
My teacher gave my like a D on it, because it was a little late and "had no meaning behind it" (yah, like any of my other pieces had meaning, I just draw what I think looks good together)
Refrence pic for Liv came from the internet, the butterfly, a magazine
Done entirely in pencil and colored pencil (prisma)
if you look closely you might notice that I colored in her eyes too (that's the way it is in all the others too)
it's kind of funny, when I turned this in, my class thought it was a self portrait .. do I look like Liv?

Nice piece also, I like the butterfly and the portrait shows lots of skill.
Poop on the teacher who gave you a D on this. Prolly a frustrated artist who has to teach for a living cause they aren't very good.

Judging by modern critiques of MODERN ART, I think you should just do what you like and then invent a meaning afterwards. For this one I am going to say that it is a point of irony that Liv, a modern icon of beauty, is looking away from the butterfly, a classic icon of beauty.
Wing it and you can get an A from any gullable idiot,

Very nice. It looks as though you put a bit of yourself in this picture. That's cool. You must explain what the teacher meant by "meaning". Were you supposed to develop a concept?

well, yeah.. part of what we were being graded on was the message we were trying to send to the viewer, but I hardly ever have a meaning or purpose behind what I draw, except that I like it

Beautiful!! I thought it was a photograph. Your teacher is full of uh.. POO .. yes poo. you can pull lots of meaning out of it. She/he is probably just jealous of how awesome you are ^^ The butterfly is a lovely touch. The only thing I can point out is that she's crosseyed XD Even the shadow around the drawing because it's a photograph looks awesome. It's what made it look like a photograph to me.

i think it is pretty good! im in drawing and painting myself and i kind of get irritated when teachers grade art based on what they think is good or has good meaning... just keep making your own stuff and loving it!!
