Description As some of you may know, I have various fear and anxiety disorders. A have panic attacks and fainting spells often, I have more than my share of extreme phobias that, you can imagine, interfere with daily life.

I have a huge imagination (which spins endless nightmare fuel for my terror disorder) that I try to use to my advantage - little tricks to distract myself, little things to change my point of view so I can control my nervous system.

Here is a collection of fictional women who inspire me. From Left to Right:

Disney's Esmeralda (Hunchback of Notre Dame).
She's fierce, she doesn't accept the norms and stays true to her heart.

Aayla Secura (Star Wars)
She's calm, collected, balanced and peaceful while still being a strong warrior and caring friend.

Catwoman (DC Comics)
She's a unique creature, fierce, independent, doesn't play by the rules, isn't afraid of love, anger or lust. Kicks ass.

Sally Bowles (Cabaret)
Four words. Life is a cabaret! She follows pleasure and beauty like a leaf blowing in the wind. A survivor.

The Bride (KILL BILL)
Nothing says 'strong woman' like a death list of the assholes who ruined your wedding. She's strong, in control, and one hell of a mother.

Lara Croft (Tomb Raider)
She's athletic, agile and smart, smart, smart. Cunning, curious and not afraid to tread her own path.

These are just a few of the fictional women who inspire me, but the ones I draw on a lot.

Coming next: the fictional men who I admire.

Interesting cast of women here. I like how you've not struggled to translate them into your own style, while retaining each ones recognizablility. The highlight of the piece is easily what we see of the Bride; she's tremendously well done.

A fine assemblage of amazing, amazing female characters. Aayla is my favourite Jedi, Catwoman my favourite Gotham Girl and Lara Croft my favourite video game character. I also think Esmerelda is one of the most attractive Disney women. I'm glad Catwoman takes centre stage, and am very happy that you included Sally Bowles! How about Cosette from Les Miserables next time around?

I did this picture before I'd discovered Les Mis (I know, shocking!), but if I were to choose any of the Les Mis girls, I'd choose Fantine. Cosette is lovely, but I have such sympathy for Fantine .
