This is a few years old now - when I made it, Australia didn't have a canon design yet.

You do realise Prussia, as a nation, hasn't existed since the 1940s?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
abbylilwolf In reply to R-ninja [2011-11-25 23:32:48 +0000 UTC]
yep, but i know it would be considered German, but my way of thinking and virtues are all based on Prussianism. That sorta speaks on its own, i guess.

R-ninja In reply to abbylilwolf [2011-11-26 00:55:06 +0000 UTC]
You said you were going to steal all my tea then laughed maniacally... that's not especially Prussian. Prussians were seen as being very uptight and disciplined, more so perhaps than the modern German stereotype. Moreover, there is a pretty huge difference between being from a nation, and emphasising with their supposed virtues and way of thinking.

...Sorry, i also have a right to fool around. Im not going to be stiff as stone always. I am usually self disciplined, that's why im School president. I have enough during the day being stiff and uptight, so I feel it is acceptable to have done that. At least it makes sense in my mind, you see... Im sorry, once again.

I'm not berating you for how you acted, I just can't understand why you would so eagerly consider yourself Prussian or praise me for being British. Ever since Hetalia became popular, it seems interest in nationalities is based on these characters rather than the real world. I'm sorry if I've come across sounding harsh, I just find it ridiculous. It's no different to the stereotypical anime and manga fan wishing they were Japanese, ignoring deeper, less pleasant aspects of a nation in favour of pop culture.
You seem extremely fond of Prussia as a character, but he's a pretty poor representation as far as real world accuracy goes.

abbylilwolf In reply to R-ninja [2011-11-26 15:58:34 +0000 UTC]
i know, I think he's representation is just a normal 17-25 year old guy. If he was a real representation of Prussia, he;d be more like what they represent Germany as, if not even more strict.
The reason why i fondly consider myself Prussian is Because i am extremely proud of it (i watched hetalia a couple months ago, ive been aware that i was Prussian and proud of being Prussian since almost 3 years ago, i guess.) The reason my i ''praised'' you for being British is that i love the country of England, its so beautiful and i would like to visit it sometime.

thank you, but i do get the point you have explained, but what am i expected to reply?I dont ''praise'' you because your British, as i said. I just have a great respect for the country and many British people ive met. I see your point. i don't understand, am i being too much of an idiot? i happened to leave a comment on your meme, and maybe if it were anyone else it might have been accepted, but since im Prussian im being expected to act stern and controlled, even if i just wanted to comment something dumb? I really like your art, but now i guess a stupid comment gave you a wrong understanding of myself.

R-ninja In reply to abbylilwolf [2011-11-26 22:03:03 +0000 UTC]
You have made it quite obvious you do not understand, so let me make it clear: Do you hold a Prussian passport? Does your birth certificate state your country of birth as being Prussia? Do either of your parents come from Prussia?
If no, you are not Prussian. I have absolutely no issue with your 'Prussian' traits, nor do I have any problem with you admiring Prussia as a nation. However, I do have a problem with you claiming a nationality you are not. Heritage is not the same as nationality. If that were the case, I could claim to be anything from French to Norwegian. I sincerely apologise for criticising you like this when you clearly intended to leave a compliment, it appears to have gotten our of hand. I will leave it at that.

Pretty much - I love visiting sites and reading up. That said, my dad's a historian and my mother's always been interested, so I've had a very history focused upbringing mostly on the ancient - medieval side of things (visiting castles, going abroad to see historical sites, doing archaeological digs at the weekends, etc). As I got older, it was just a case of choosing what interested me and doing things from there.
