You asked for more and, uh, welcome to another strip exploring Oogie's parenting? X) I don't think I've ever shown this much character development for Obi Boogie to you guys. Admittedly I mostly made this for myself, but I still wanted to share because it's a scene that means a lot to me.

I realize that some of you might get confused or lost reading this. It comes after the "Caring Father" strip, but not directly. I did my best to edit the dialogue so that it might be easier to understand and I added a pretty large amount of exposition in hopes the comic could explain everything itself... But I know people might still have their questions, so here is a full explanation of this conversation:

(read it or don't, but it's a comic based on a 13-year-old Nightmare Before Christmas RP, so of course it's gonna be background heavy)

As mentioned in the description of the "Caring Father" comic, Obi had ran away from home, because Oogie is a bit of a shitty parent. Because of Oogie's discouragement she felt like she made a terrible Boogie person and could never live up to his expectations, so she figured out a way to be human instead and ran away to the human world with Barrel. Oogie eventually found where they went and kidnapped Barrel to lure Obi back to his lair. She had to fight to save him, and to everyone's surprise, she won. An even bigger surprise after the fight, Big Daddy Boogie (the "elder" of the Boogie people if you will, or Oogie's dad/Obi's grandpa) appeared and proclaimed Obi as the new Boogieman. Because by their peoples' rules if you challenge and defeat their current Boogieman, you proved yourself more powerful, and you take their place as the best.

In case you don't remember or didn't see the "Blankets and Boogieman" strip, Boogie people in my headcanon are actually very powerful shadow creatures- hence the "I am the shadow on the moon at night" thing. You see examples of Oogie using his shadow like this in the Oogie's Revenge video game, and we just expanded upon that. Their shadow is their everything, so, we came up with this explanation for how Boogie people are created... which I thought would be a sort of sweet connection that Oogie would have with Obi.

The big thing though: Obi's among one of my first ever OCs, and all you'd have to know about her is that she's quiet and cute, she's together with Barrel, she's filled with ramen noodles for some reason, and she's unfortunate enough to be Oogie Boogie's daughter. Over a decade later, we've finally decided it was time to start moving their relationship onto a better path so that maybe they could get along someday. As you can see it's got a long, long way to go. But this scene, though bittersweet, is a breakthrough moment for them. Oogie's never given Obi any recognition before, let alone have a full conversation where he actually listened to what she had to say. She proved herself to him and he's very slowly learning that he was wrong about her. Of course she's been abused for far too long and forgiveness would be questionable at this point... but she like many people long for their parents' approval. Which is why him granting her barely a compliment was enough to get her to cry.

Idk how many people will like or appreciate this comic, but I'm really happy that this scene happened and that I had the energy to illustrate it all out
