Malachite is a 37 year old dragon who lives and works in the Equestrian forest town of Sire's Hollow. She is a friendly dragoness who cares little for many of the behaviours and traditions of her kind, far preferring the quiet life she has built up for herself. She works for the Equestrian Postal service as both a mail sorter, and for delivering special items via dragonfire.

The dragoness was originally hatched and raised by a kindly, mild mannered mare named Sugar Lily, and considers her as her true mother. Malachite is utterly loyal to her adoptive mother and those that she considers her friends, and would defend them all to the death.

Despite that fierce loyalty, Malachite is a friendly and relaxed dragoness who is very slow to anger, and loves animals of all kinds. She loves to go on solo adventures, and tends to do that whenever she is not working or spending time with her mother or friends. Malachite has an irrational and deep hatred of changelings, though this does not carry over to the new "evolved" changelings under King Thorax.

Physically, she is from a rare, smaller breed of dragon, and will likely not get any bigger than Princess Celestia. She is not bipedal in stance, but can often be found propping up a wall in that manner in Sire's Hollow, having a cigarette on her lunch break. She is strong for her size, however, and is a good flier with large and powerful wings. It is noted that Malachite is not very agile in flight, but she is fast.

Malachite's scales are tiny and barely visible, and she feels smooth to the touch. As they are so small, they provide little of the protection that the larger and harder scales of other dragons provide. Don’t let that fool you though, she is fast, nimble, and still physically tougher than many other creatures, and while her teeth are small, she has a powerful, disabling bite. She is still fireproof and able to swim and bathe in lava or magma, something she does enjoy greatly when she does travel to the Dragon Lands.

She is almost never seen without her shawl which is an item made for her as a gift by Sugar Lily. Sometimes she can be found wearing a human-made bandolier, but instead of magazines of bullets, it's chock full of packs of cigarettes.

Malachite's favourite snacks are rubies, and she will always do a job better and more efficiently if rubies are involved. She also likes sapphires, but hates diamonds as she says they taste like bitter lemon. She does also have to eat meat from time to time, and she hunts, butchers and cooks all her game personally. She will not hunt if she cannot guarantee an instant, painless kill. She is no monster, and only hunts because her body requires meat for vitamins and protein that she cannot get from any other source. It is a sad truth that she is forced to hunt by her own, unusual biology, when she would much rather watch nature from afar, and not have to kill.

Instead of breathing a gaseous fire like most dragons, her particular breed actually breathe a form of napalm gel, one of the things that Malachite absolutely hates about her particular heritage. She considers herself a "walking potential war crime," and thus prefers peace and quiet, and doesn't like fighting unless absolutely necessary. A last resort warning given by Malachite is when she spits a gobbet of burning napalm onto the ground directly in front of a potential assailant, as if to underline the threat that she poses to their very survival.

When not at work or in town, she can often be found in the local forest whiling away the hours just observing nature, and if you're very lucky, or a close friend, you can catch her watching clouds while laying on her back.

Malachite is currently single and experimenting with her sexuality. She can be considered pansexual for the purposes of this entry. She considers love as the ultimate expression towards another being, and gives it freely. She can be seductive when she really wants someone in particular, but normally she just likes to play the field and see where life takes her. She is known to be a generous, caring, and attentive lover, and above all adores being physically close with those that she cares about.

As an aside, Malachite knows anyone worth knowing in Sire’s Hollow, including Lady Nightshade and her boyfriend Cain. As well as that, Spike considers her a close friend as they got talking when Twilight Sparkle was last in town. Their pony upbringing was something they had in common, and they bonded through it in particular. Malachite likes Spike, and sees a lot of herself in his friendly and chipper demeanour.

Her true dragon mother still lives, and is anxious to find her, but as of yet, the two dragonesses have not met.

It is only a matter of time however...
