Game: Frontier

Let's say we couldn't run from a fight and we'd get our asses kicked if we tried to fight. Frontier lets you surrender, and the pirates will either take half your items or a quarter of your gold, although it doesn't check to see what would net them more money, so you could easily skate past with one gold piece or two Grains and they'd let you pass while making a garbage profit.

It would be even more aggravating if you fought them for a few rounds and then they took minimal loot, but AFAIK, the pirates will let you through after you surrender, regardless of how long the fight lasts and how much they get out of your surrender.

Now let's say the pirates can get pissed off over how little you fork over when you give up a hopeless fight. This comic would probably be the result.
