In Design Fundamentals we are making pages for a group coloring book. I finished mine already. All pen and ink on paper. It's a phoenix!! Notice the oriental scale pattern repeating in the background. I added that last minute to make better use of some languid whitespace real estate after seeing a classmate use a pattern in her piece. Had I some crayons (for crayons are the tools of coloring masters of old) or a functional printer, then this is precisely the page I would want. Were it in a book, I would fight the whole kindergarden class for it. And win.

Oh wow! Great job on the variations of the line width. I also like how you went with the Oriental phoenix, instead of the Western one. The scale pattern in the background really adds to the mood of the whole picture, too.

He's actually just MY Phoenix. I never noticed a difference between Western and Eastern Phoenixes besides presentation. Is there?

Maybe it's just me, but I've always noticed that Western phoenixes seemed more like red eagles with extra plumage, while Oriental phoenixes were much more serpentine (emphasizing on the incredably long necks, and flowy tails). Even if it is just how they are presented, they always seemed like two completely seperate animals.
But of course, that's just my opinion

This rocks so hard. I love the Phoenix! (Despite the occasional misspelling ^_^;; ) If I had photoshop, I'd like, so colour this... virtually >:3. but it would look so crappy, considering my colouring skills.
