I dunno considering how closely I based it on the original this is probably my least talented work, I just thought it was a funny idea XD

Wow, I've been wanting to see something like this for a while.
looks really great and the interpretation of the birds in your comment
makes a lot of sense. I always hated how pidgey was called..pidgey.
And how people actually thought it was based off of one haha.
Also I'm glad someone else agrees that Spearow is clearly a small hawk/falcon.

I like how you gave a sense of realism to the pokemon.

I like how the Spearow looks like it's saying "Hey, you! Get off of my tree!" to the Pidgey.
Great job on this one.

Wow, that's pidgey. Pidgey's the docile and gentle bird, this one gives me the willies. Though it makes sense for it to look like a hunting bird if that's what it evolves into. I agree that it's no pidgeon, whoever named this line of pokemon was a little kookoo, no pun intended. Though I never saw it as a hunting bird. Though good for making it stay the same type of animal the whole time. One has to remember they're the same species!
As for spearow, I like it. Looks like a hawk. It doesn't have that mean, nasty, hyper squirt quality that spearow usually has, but it looks good, and looks like something I could imagine being a common sight on the fields or perched on telephone poles on the open road, so that's good. I notice you translated its belly into a feather pattern. I'd always pictured it as having a bare belly like a snake, but I don't think that would really fly (in all senses of the word).

I know where you got that idea. Lol, I drew a picture almost exactly like that. (Only mine wasn't cartoonish, Or Colored.) It was the birds out of the book that I drew it from; & detailed in Pencil, too. Great work on the pic' though. I likes it.

Great pic, I love your interpretation of the Kanto birds, especially Spearow (though I may be biassed because I prefer Spearow anyway). I have to agree about Pidgey, though - it's never struck me as very pigeon-like either.

As a bird nerd AND a Poke-nerd, I'm gonna have to call this one an instant favorite. Excellent job!
lol, I love how ironic Pidgey becomes when you turn it into a shrike. I mean, they're not called 'butcher birds' for nothing...

When I was drawing it I tried to imagine a Pidgey going all butcher bird on a Caterpie and yeah >__>" That'd be quite a sight for random children to come across in the woods...

What would random children be doing wandering around in the woods anyway!?
Oh, wait, I forgot. It doesn't matter what they're doing, so long as they have a POKEMON to protect them!!

Kay... I had a dream last night about a very large, realistic Spearow cleverly nicknamed "Spear", and I completely blame your interpretation of it. I love how you drew both of those birds, and I guess my subconscious mind does, too XP

Ah I love it to see Pokemon in a naturalistic way. trying to wrap them into a shell of realism.
You did a great job.
