So I've told you about the leather awesomeness I did this holiday. I promised to upload pics of the gear once it's done, so here I did.So....this is, like a chaps, but, short. But basically. I just base this on the costume of Ragnarok Online's Sniper and Hunter. (google it if you never saw their awesome designs). Minus the furs cos I just can't make it work.
I added side and back pockets here to make it, like, functional.
Anyways: I did not sew or work anything on this garment. The only effort I did is designing the stuff, wander all over my entire city to find the right leathers and explain the whole concepts and details to the tailor without sounding like a dorky weeabo.
The awesome idea of short chaps over a grey jeans and boots is (s)(suggested by) Ragnarok Online.

Well, all I did was to get a good tailor then I just explain the concept to him and get him take care of the sewings.
Doesn't all you need is to make a regular pants pattern then cut a slanted rectangular hole on the crotch?

not at all, it needss to be unstitched and a pattern needs to be made special for the legs or its going to cut your crotch

Although I'm not a fan of leather... I have to say outside that...
I've seen them in games around too (Apparently not seen the Ragnarok one yet XP), and always loved the look of them and always wondered if there is some costumes like that... I can't help to comment now, but wah!

Actually never mind about me seeing them somewhere else lol. At first I was just looking at the chaps alone ^ _ ^; They do look like shorts that I've seen similar from elsewhere in games. Though, it still does remind me of something from Disgaea and some fantasy RPGs like Golden Sun.

Yes, this kinda thing is quite common in many other games, too. It's such a shame for the fashion world. I mean, they have used everything-circular shirts, that funny looking turkish pants...how can they never look at this such wondrous possibility on the lowergarment?

I rarely see chaps worn outside. I did see it once or twice here (not sure if it was just for the night) and I think some places do actually wear them more occasionally.
I have seen some types of shorts and tights/tight trousers together though which is the closest (But it didn't look like that)... To me, it looks kind of weird and not very comfortable...
Those chaps look pretty cool even if it was made as shorts over the jeans. I think a fashion designer just need to refine them a little and it could work nicely as a style of wear : )
Although I'm not a fan of leather, I think it'll be cool to see chaps in other forms.
If you're wearing boots, I say you need a good unzipped jacket for the upper half and a T-shirt with some sort of print inside : D

The jacket got to be a brown leather with matching color, and sadly I have yet to get one. I need one very soon, but they are damn expensive...

The first place I would think of is Mexico, then I actually wondered about Europe and somewhere around Africa (but that could be just me *roll eyes)
I think the chaps look strong and fantastic, they look awesome. You probably can wear it out, though imo, you might want some adjustments on the clothes.
For the jacket, I actually was thinking brown too lol, but not leather. I was thinking of a softer fabric and is more of a casual wear, but I'm not sure how hot it is in Australia...

So T-shirt inside and jacket outside, then with a medium height strong hiking boot... The jeans need some change too... A darker colour and a tiny bit more roomy : )

Sorry for my late reply, just recently I'm really busy with things in and outwith DA.
Actually not at all... I wish I could travel around abroad much more, but anyways, just kind of remember from seeing something on it.
Well, for the fashion side of things, I did draw up something quick today to my first visualisation of it. It's put together in a modern approach, so you should be able to wear it out normally with this imo.

The first combination is what I thought first and preferred. The Winter jacket is not leather... It's a soft warm cotton fabric you probably want to look for. There suppose be a medium print on the T-shirt, but today I'm really too tired to design it. The boots are medium height but tucked into the more roomy jeans. I think that's the best way to work out.
The second was just an extra visual from what you wrote. Skinny boots with the thinner jeans, which I would think you would tuck in those boots. This one is more of a summer wear with the T-shirt (With smaller print perhaps?). For the colour of the top, you can change, I have no idea...
Anyways, that's what I had come up so far, I need to log off. I'm probably not on DA much for a little, so be taking some time to comment and reply XP If out of the odds, you want to enhance or co-operate the clothes or mention this conversation as such, I'll prefer to stay anonymous ' _ '

Dude, you're pretty good at this! If you start posting character designs on DA I would be faving them.
They look nice, though I cannot say things yet, until I can pull it off in reality. Thing is, I do love a brown jacket and a green vest, but I have none of those :< so well, I would wait until I can get any of them, then try to see how they look togedar!

Usually jackets cost pretty heavy, and that brown jacket style varies in price depending on its make. Well, if you do manage to try it together, liking the outcome and wear it out, I'll definitely want to see! : )

I think that would be too much. Well, a leather version works too (It could even look better, I don't know), it'll be up to yourself.
You should have your chaps and black jeans with you while in the dressing room to make up your mind and try both versions yourself. It's probably just my taste, I would more likely to put it together with a softer cotton-type winter jacket.

I came up with a nice looking design for the chaps, but the file got deleted. Stupid compie, oh well I got several months until I can make a new tailoring anyways.

The design was cotton-based but with leather patchings. It's not the soft and thick winter type though, it's actually short and skinny, but also long sleeved. It's much easier to show you the drawing than explaining it, but well my photoshop was being a beotch.

Oh. As far as I remember, a friend back in high school happened to be wearing a jacket that looks similar to it and it's a darkish blue one. It just happened that on one random day when we were talking, as... conserving as the jacket looks, he put his hand into one of the soft puffed-up pockets, and then said to us, "Oh hey, look at this...", and pulled out a 'brown' apple core with bits of crushed apples sticking to it.
We all went eww, and he added "Eww, I actually can't even remember when this was from...", then said to us to look inside the pocket and it was fairly filled with crushed, mushy apple
I think I remember he also pulled out a chocolate bar wrapper from the pocket as well with bits of remaining chocolate melted sticking on the wrapper...
We all were like, "Ok, we're not touching that pocket", and he joked with us to try putting our hands into it for a second.
So yup, some of those jackets reminds me of that. It's oddly fun remembering it occasionally though nevertheless lol

I'm actually quite ordinary in the clothes I wear. I have this good massive rain jacket and been with me for long now when I'm going around places. I usually wear that one in Winter and it's such a handy jacket. Then I have a white sports jacket I like the look alot for Spring.

Surprisingly it did seem that way as odd as it sounds... The apple was by far past its best before date... And I can't imagine how someone would be willing to wear a jacket with that there for so long... He is quite an open and clear person too.
And lol, I actually immediately thought of the main character! XD I think part of him is quite matching, but I don't wear shorts. My massive jacket's a dark navy blue too : )
In real, I actually just wear quite normal clothes, I can't see much fashion in it, but I guess that's me. I like traveling/hiking and sporty lifestyle clothes though, but casual at the same time!

lol, I would agree, just it doesn't work out for me. I like the long shorts... I tried wearing them, but somehow didn't look right at the time... I want to try another one some time again though.
