Thank you...
I think skill is just practice and learning through repetition...
Most people ask me what kind of expensive DSLR and lens I use...
my answer is a crappy compact... that I push to the very limit!

You are the only one that sets the limits for yourself... remember that!

Very nice shot. I'd say the overcast day is what makes this photo work.

Absolutely breathtaking. It's a wonderful panorama. Are they hard to stitch together?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

radu-jm In reply to TokyoButterfly [2010-02-09 23:24:53 +0000 UTC]

Depends on the complexity of the photograph.
In this case I had to stitch them manually.
The lighting and the detail in the individual shots was not enough for Photoshop to join them.

But usually, (if you are using the same settings -manual exposure- and you overlap the shots by 40%) the process goes smoothly.

No...definately looks amazing, but I know what you mean. probably not the sort of place you'd want to hang around at night!

Night or day... trust me on that!
This walls are in the middle of the beach. The tide comes out from nowhere and you find yourself stranded in no time.

I'm assuming it's some kind of disused harbour?

radu-jm In reply to Thricelight [2010-02-10 16:19:57 +0000 UTC]

have a look at this, (google maps).

This is the place... in the middle of nowhere... with no purpose... except probably to break the waves of the tide

Thricelight In reply to radu-jm [2010-02-10 16:45:14 +0000 UTC]

That is really, really weird! I assume it did serve some purpose as some kind of harbour, but there's no way out on the landward side of things!! is there any evidence for gates or anything?

Seen from the air it also looks quite flimsy too! I'm surprised it's still standing, when you think of some of the storms we get battered by!

radu-jm In reply to Thricelight [2010-02-10 18:17:08 +0000 UTC]

When I took the shot... there was no water there. Because of the tide, there was a warning not to venture too far.
So I guess is some kind of structure to break some imaginary waves...
I'll look into it and let you know.
