Description The edge of a shallow reef in the area that will one day become the Much Wenlock Limestone Formation of the West Midlands, England, during the mid Silurian, 430 million years ago. The Wenlock Limestone is one of the most productive Lägerstatte of the Silurian, stretching throughout England and Wales, with a huge variety of marine invertebrates coming out of its’ rocks. Restored here is just a fraction of fossil taxa found from the formation, particularly from the localities around Dudley in the West Midlands (only a few miles away from where I live):

22. Hallopora sp. (branching bryozoan)
23. Prunocystis sp. (cystoid)
