Description
Here's another of my Boondocks OCs, Amisha "Mimi" Mi-Kyong Park. She is half black, half Korean (or "Blasian", as the slang goes). She is playful and energetic, and is (mostly) good-natured and friendly.
She can be a bit of a tsundere though, and a bit of a primadonna when getting any kind of authority in any school plays/anything to do with singing. She aspires to be either a pop singer/actress or some kind of diplomat who travels the world.
Mimi's an avid gamer, owning many systems, but her favorite system is the GameCube. Her Animal Crossing town name is Jama-P (Jazmine has a house in Jama-P, btw), though her absolute favorite games are RPGs, adventure, and dance games, though she can whip Riley's butt in the odd sports game she plays ("You's cheatin'!" or "this controller's busted!" are common to hear from him). On top of that, she is also anime fan, watching shows like Sailor Moon, Pokemon, Wedding Peach and Cardcaptor Sakura. She doesn't go to too many places without her Sailor Moon toy broach from Japan (it lights up and plays the transformation music!), as well as some slap bracelets.
Her parents, Dominic Park and Gina Martin-Park, try their best to make sure they expose Mimi to both black and Korean culture so she is a more well-rounded individual. They also abide by the ratings system when it comes to adding to Mimi's anime collection, having accidentally rented "Violence Jack" from the video store (real anime, btw. A guy eats his girlfriend's corpse in it, all I'm gonna say). They spoil Mimi quite a bit, as she has one of those Sanrio CRT TVs with a VHS and DVD player built in, as well as a respectable anime collection on both formats, though they'd be age-appropriate for a 10 year old.
Dominic is a pilot, while Gina is a teacher at a university, teaching black studies, as well as several other history classes including (but not limited to) "History of Fashion", "Black Culture 1: 1700-1900" and the follow up "Black Culture 2: 1900-Today" , as well as a few basic history classes that students take to fill out their Gen Ed. requirements. She has tenure, so her position is well-paid enough for them to live nearby the Freemans. Huey would look up to Gina, and goes to a good chunk of her free talks, usually taking Jazmine as a sort of date.
Dominic isn't home too often, being only home three to four nights out of the week, but he makes up for it by buying Mimi trinkets from his flights, though dolls and toys are her favorite.
Mimi sleeps with a stuffed lamb originally named Lambie, and considers herself religious, going to church most Sundays with her mother and meet with her grandmother Charlotte, and they usually tag along with Isis' and her family. Perhaps because of this, she becomes close friends with Jazmine, due to how similar they are.
She also gets along with Cindy and Isis, but views herself as Ming's rival, at least in regards to competition for Hiro's affections. Fortunately once the dust settles and Hiro chooses Ming, Mimi and Ming are able to have more respect for each other, though it does leave Mimi despondent for a solid 50 hours (if one includes time sleeping). Fortunately, after a pep talk from her mother, she is able to put herself back out there and bonds with Phil, a shy boy in her, Huey, and Jazmine's class who shares her mutual interests in anime, video games, and collectables. They have their first kiss during a birthday party when they're in 7th grade when they get stuck playing "Seven Minutes in Heaven" and decide they want to date.
I drew Mimi in what her everyday, pajamas, and church outfit would look like. Considering how characters change their outfits occasionally in the show, I'll design a few more outfits besides the outfits I present my OCs in.
