Story: ( has no idea where it came from, but it was like write me   )

tldr:

I have dished out karma to Demetri's poo flinging ways ... The ride was hell.

*  Feeds La Pluie extra carrots and a trough full of water with added electrolytes  *

You have done well in your task * Pats the sweaty mare *

Wallace and Ilik Gozel had an easier run despite running through fire.

le long version:

It had been over a year, Wallace was confident Ilik and Pluie  were ready for their first official Zlesdin training event; The bonfire event. He knew Pluie had a ways to go  on her personality alone  before they could ever attempt the bold route with her, but he figured it would be great  for Demetri to get some endurance experience as a rider.  Demetri had been abrasive and annoying the entire trip to Skagen, Denmark and Wallace while he had  patience  and understanding, was starting to get fed up with it.  Yeah,he was younger than Demetri, but Aline had put him in charge knowing full well Demetri would  shirk his duties,  which  was exactly what he had been doing. Wallace saw the event as a small break before they would have to go back  to him making sure everything was done properly and timely for the two horses' care while they were away from the stables. Demetri headed out before him on his route as it was going to take longer and Wallace was finally able to relax.
There were many other Zlesdin  owners participating this year and Wallace was glad to be able to participate this year himself with Ilik. They had been training for most of the year and  he looked forward to it until Demetri spoke up. And said he was willing to go and be La Pluie's rider. He hoped those two could survive each other.  They had gone on some practice rides at home to see if the two could mesh and  La Pluie  constantly fought with Demetri,  but then she fought with everyone.  Demetri knew how to safely counter attack  her and wasn't afraid of the tricks  she pulled. Wallace  had already gained her  trust and respect and   didn't get much flak from her anymore  and knew this was  probably too big of a test for the two, but he wasn’t about to put Demetri on Ilik. Ilik and him had really bonded  and  while Demetri was a  decent rider  he had a habit of forgetting what was best for the horse and  with fire in the mix Wallace was afraid of things going wrong.
He mounted up  and  headed out as the sky turned moody with the sun setting  behind the cloudy horizon. they passed by the church tower on their way and through the dunes  around  the town of  Skagen towards the beach  for the bonfires. several riders  already had run through and where heading back. he thumbs upped a fellow riders who had thought to wear a bandana  to mask out the smoke  like the   mask he was wearing now, the breeze was picking up and  felt  great  after the heat of the afternoon he pushed Ilik into a faster trot  to warm the stallion up  for the sprint  he would be doing  through the fires posting along with him  he could hear Demetri cursing profanities somewhere in the dunes to his left.  Ilik was eager to  pick up the pace, but Wallace kept him reined in until they lined up with the first  fire, most of the bonfires were  reaching the hot coals stage   with a few new logs or branches added to keep them flaming.  He saw Ilik   take interest in these things  as he pushed him forward.   The stallion hesitated at the first one and so Wallace   circled him around  wide to re take it pushing  the stallion to go faster and faster as they charged forward.
Ilik  now understanding that they were going to  go through the  hot crackling lights  decided yes   fast was probably a good idea   and charged  onward.  The first bonfire went by like it was nothing, just a moment of too hot  and they were through.  Ilik noticed a long line of  other fires and   felt  Wallace adjust  to suggest they  go through the next  and so they did one after another.

The  route was almost over.  Demetri could see the sand spit of Grenen just up ahead after this last dune.  He relaxed for just a second at the thought of this hell ride being over. The  ocean breeze was a coveted blessing at the top of the dune.  he was thankful wallace lent him one of his white shirts as the day had been hot and the light material breathed nicely compared to the t-shirts he had brought along.  As the sunset over the sea lost its last colors and the night with  brewing thunder clouds loomed around them,  He briefly looked  to his right at the coast. There he saw the line of bonfires along the beach that marked the bold route.
He recognized Wallace and Ilik  as they sprinted through the flames. He felt a twinge of jealousy at how cool and flawless they looked compared to the  mess he was in with Pluie. She had decided early on that this was all a huge nope. He should have turned back at the first sign of trouble, but he knew the mare was just being as stubborn as he was. They had that in common  and he had to respect her tenacity.     His arms and legs screamed at him  as he  tried to simultaneously push the mare forward with his thighs and hold her back from bolting or bucking as she had done five times already.   He gritted his teeth as he felt her take it as a cue to leap off the small dune  and tried to  adjust to be able to stay seated as she landed.  He had reflexively put his hands to brace himself on her sweaty foamy neck as she tossed her head up on landing. She snorted, recovered herself, and lunged forward before Demetri had a chance to figure out  what to do next.
Thunder rumbled in the distance  and Demetri tried to save the last couple of strides in this breed sanctioned training event by getting La Pluie to at least run in the right direction and stop before they ended up  in the tumultuous seas.

Somehow  he made it back  to the start and where the horses where to be housed for the night  along with Wallace; he  didn’t remember talking  and Wallace had been silent too, he thought.   they didn’t really get along  personality wise,  but Demetri  tried   to tone himself down a bit for the trip, he knew nobody liked  him at RTS ... it was kinda hard not to tell, it normally didn't bother him  and  he figured so what,  but he noticed  he  got left out  of a lot of stuff  he wanted to be included in.  so he thought by  joining  and helping Wallace  he could score  some points  toward getting included on things, but  Wallace wasn't into video games or memes   like himself  and  conversation   wasn't really  something he was good at. he kinda botched his attempts on the trip over  too.
La Pluie was happy to get a drink from the hose as he washed her  down after un-tacking her.   He winced every time he moved;  his  body was still screaming from  how tense  he had been while riding La Pluie,  all he knew was that he would be sore tomorrow.   It was sheer will  power right now that he was still moving. The second he got to the hotel room, Demetri knew he was going to take a nice hot shower and   go  pass out on the bed.
La Pluie  bobbed her  head up and down in impatience as  he scrapped the  extra water off.   he then proceeded to walk her around the  grounds  to make sure  she was properly cooled  off before   putting her in her stall.   He noticed Wallace had already thrown her  hay and grain in along with refilled  both her buckets with  a scoop of electrolytes  in one.   Thank goodness  several less things to do.   He looked in  on Ilik who was already turned in for the night  freshly bathed and   munching away  at  his hay  the grain  already inhaled and a  bucket of water emptied in the stallions thirst. Ah  ok  one thing to do... It was the least he could do.
