Description It's been exactly a year since I left for a trip to New York City to recieve a National Scholastic American Visions Award for my painting. I thought it would be nice to upload this on the "anniversary". The whole experience was a once in a lifetime event, especially for an 8th grader! The painting, along with the rest of the collection, are traveling to different museums across the country (at the beginning of the year I heard it was in Portland) but I have no idea where it is now . . .


Interperet the piece however you like. It's meant to have multiple meanings behind it.

Thank you. The cord was attached by gluing it into a small hole drilled into the canvas frame.

Ah, cool! It's hard to tell from the photograph, which I suppose is a good thing! Gives it quite the optical illusion

My dad drilled a little hole through the frame of the canvas and then glued the cord inside it.

Interesting. This piece is a great example of how something so small and random can completely change the meaning of a piece of art. With out that cord this would just another boring tree, but the addition of that little detail gives it so much more meaning, and make it that much more interesting. Good work. Original for sure.
