I will never understand how the hell you do it. The level of detail is absolutely incredible and it has a paint-job to match. Do you make any of these parts separately? I think if I were to attempt this, each of the legs, the head, and the claws on the back would all be separate pieces that I would glue together after. Getting all of the legs to be the right size would be the biggest headache for me. +fav easy

I just try out new methods in my sculpting to keep it from getting boring. For instance, on this figure I used a candy wrapper for the textures. Weird, huh?

As for the question, pretty much every body part was sculpted separatly, down to each fang and spine, making symmetry less of an issue. To piece the sculpt together I manipulate the wires that I put into the larger body parts, like the legs, head and main shell, combined with a paper clay that acts as an adhesive.

But dude, try using candy wrappers, they're amazing. Who knew?

Candy wrappers eh? That's crazy! I've used tin foil for texture before, but the texture patterns here just look so intentional-- not random like I would expect from something like a candy wrapper. That's a clever idea and it definitely works.

I'm going to have to look into that paper clay material that you're talking about because I don't have anything like that. With bigger pieces, I'll often make a wire/toothpick/skewer sticking out. I'll make a hole in the part of the main body where the piece needs to go and glue it on after everything is cooked. It works, but symmetry is still a bitch.
