Description This is a bird I came across at the very top of Ben Nevis in Scotland. I have no idea whatsoever what species it is. I'm uploading a number of photos of the cutie, hoping someone will help me identify it. It's the same bird as here: [link]
As it was shot quite a while ago, I can't really rely on my memory as to its size. I think it was smaller than a blackbird, but slightly bigger (I think) than a sparrow. It was there on its own, scavenging on the crumbs and pieces of food dropped by tourists.
The picture was taken in the middle of the summer (not that it makes any difference at the top of Ben Nevis, though).

If I had seen this fellow I would have probably walk by thinking as (here)common house sparrow
[link]
But then I noticed that this fellow is totally missing the white/light coloured stripe that female house sparrows have over the eye... [link]
Maybe juvenile linnet [link] but that picture's bird have really white striepes on the outher edge of the wing... Hmm... Could that be just the light?

Heh, I don't think this message really leads to anywhere, but I am also really curious to know the answer.

You have taken nice photos from this fellow
