Description Summary (from Goodreads):

Most high school sports teams have rivalries with other schools. At Hamilton High, it's a civil war: the football team versus the soccer team. And for her part,Lissa is sick of it. Her quarterback boyfriend, Randy, is always ditching her to go pick a fight with the soccer team or to prank their locker room. And on three separate occasions Randy's car has been egged while he and Lissa were inside, making out. She is done competing with a bunch of sweaty boys for her own boyfriend's attention

Then Lissa decides to end the rivalry once and for all: She and the other players' girlfriends go on a hookup strike. The boys won't get any action from them until the football and soccer teams make peace. What they don't count on is a new sort of rivalry: an impossible girls-against-boys showdown that hinges on who will cave to their libidos first. But what Lissa never sees coming is her own sexual tension with the leader of the boys, Cash Sterling…

Review:

So, I loved this book.  Kody really impressed me with this one, but I did have some problems with the book. I loved that it reminded me of a teen movie, but at the same time…not. I'll explain.

Lissa irked me. I believe she was realistic and I guess that's what really got me. If I ever met her, I think I wouldn't be able to be around her for more than a few hours.  Cash was very sweet, but I wanted to see more of his character. I wish the book could have been longer just so I could get to know him more. Randy didn't seem like a jerk at all in my opinion. Except on that one part, but we won't discuss that. As a friend he was awesome, but as a boyfriend…not so much. So many reasons why Lissa should have broke in off with him a long time ago.

I also didn't like that there weren't other things they could have done to get the boys to stop their rivalry, but it is based off of a play from years ago, so without that it would be its own book. Either way, I guess the best thing about the book is when the girls came together for their slumber parties and confessed to each other what they liked and what they didn't like about sex. The message in this book is awesome and I'm glad I read it.

So, overall, I give Shut Out:

Rating:  4 out of 5 stars

The characters seemed like real teenagers and the as I said before I loved the message in this book. However, I didn't like that they had to go on a sex strike just to get the boys' attention. As we are in modern times, we as women have more choices than just sex. I mean, not all teenage boys are horndogs…right?
