This is a charcoal drawing I made awhile back. It's I believe 18in x 24in? Seriously fuck if I know but it's framed and still over my fireplace.

Anyways it has a story to it.

It's about a small girl that lives in a tiny village.
This village fears the huge castle on the outskirts of their home and it's rumored to house a killer giant!
But there's this girl that's too curious for her own good. She defies her village and travels to the castle to see if the rumors are true.
Once inside the see's nothing but ruin. Old broken walls, dusk and plant-life have overgrown the whole kingdom. But when she finds the ballroom she see's the giant.
He's curled up, alone in the dark under a small stream of light coming from a broken window.
The girl is obviously scared but she feels for the creature and approaches him. At first he wants nothing to do with her. He's of course afraid because humans have always wanted to hurt him but as she gentle approaches him he realizes that she's not like the others. She's genuinely curious and open to him and thus a unlikely friendship forms.
I made this in protest of the racism happening in my state and country. I live in Arizona close to the Mexican boarder and I wanted to make an illustration that showed love and tolerance in the face of differences. That even though 2 people are from 2 different worlds, that love, respect and trust can prevail in the face of hatred and fear. That we we believe are monsters might actually just be just another creature trying to survive a harsh world.
This is the very core of my values and it is the reason why I have chosen to change my profiles tagline to "NOS ET CEDAMUS AMORI".
It is a Latin phrase from the initial quote " OMNIA VINCIT AMOR, NOS ET CEDAMUS AMORI" meaning "Love conquers all, So let us yield to love".
