"hey," you said as you laid back across the foot of the bed, you head resting on your partner's calves as he stretched slightly but didn't move. You held a book up over your head, reading it.
"what?" he asked as he stretched his arms up over his head and rolled his shoulders.
"it says in here that humans were first made with four arms, four legs, and two faces,"
"damn, you sounded ugly," rolling your eyes you gave a laugh.
"ya well, it's says here that Zeus was afraid of our power and cut us in half so we had to spend our lives searching for our other half to be complete again,"
"oh for the love of me," sitting up he pulled his legs out from under you and snatched the book. "why are you reading this junk," he said as he flipped through the pages in disgust.
Sitting up you pulled your knees under you and reached for it, "because," you said as he closed it and held it loosely in his lap, "I should atleast know something about your family. Now, give it back," you reached for it again. He pulled away and laid it on his other side out of your reach.
"ha," he said as he pulled his knees up and then sat cross legged, "you're not going to learn anything from reading that kind of crap,"
Sticking your tongue out at him you crawled closer and tried to reach over him to get the book. He placed his hand on it and smiled his mischievous smile.
Pausing you stared at him in suspicion then said slowly, "give me the book,"
"Hmmmmmm...." he said, raising his eyebrow and tilting his head towards the ceiling as if in thought but watching you with a mirthless gleam, "no," he said in a cute sarcastic tone and with that he launched the book off the bed.
Trying to grab the book in vain, you threw yourself after it but he had quickly wrapped his arms around your waist and pinned you down on his lap. With a huff you crossed your arms and leaned forward away from him. Laughing he held you and started to lightly kiss over the nape of your neck. Shivering you turned and glared at him. It wasn't fair, his wicked powers that provoke your longing for him.
"you know," you said as you ran your hands over his, "is that thing about the humans true?" you asked leaning back into his chest.
"why are you so concerned with that?" he asked as he teased his lips over your shoulder.
"well," you replied as you turned slightly and ran your fingers through his thick, silky, golden hair, "some where out there I have another half and instead of looking for him, I'm fooling around with you," then you pulled away and watched as him as he raised his eyebrow and smirked.
"to good for a god?" he asked as he shifted his hands. He ran his hand up along your stomach and lightly over your cheek.
"no, but, if there is a soulmate out there somewhere should I be looking for my love," you enhanced the word and he grinned.
"why go looking for love while he's right here," he paused and kissed your neck then added, "in your house, in your bedroom, sitting under your sheets, with you on his lap," he rested his chin on your shoulder. You smiled and kissed him on his cheek. He grinned again and said, "besides, like I said, you're not going to learn anything from reading that kind of crap. Its not true you, humans weren't first built like that,"
"really?" you asked teasingly as you tapped him on his nose, "and how do I know that's not Cupid just trying to cause mischief, for his own amusement,"
He paused and then pushed you away so you fell on your side. You gave a squeak then started to giggle as he straddled you and pinned your hands to your chest.
"don't call me that," he said glaring in sarcastic anger.
"oh why not? You know, some mythology is based off of some truth, Cupid," you said his name teasingly.
"if it was then I'd be a naked annoying five year old, with wings," he growled as he let your hands go, "and you know, I'd rather be called Eros,"
You stared at him and ran your eyes over his body, "well you do have the wings, and you are naked right now but," you paused then shrugged, "five years old for eternity is a bit much to believe,"
As he smiled and kissed you, your door suddenly flew open. In strolled a tall man saying, "hey, I've been looking all over for you and here... You... Arrrreee..." then turning he covered his eyes but you could still see the awkward grin he had, "busy?"
"Hermes! Seriously, what in the name of Hades are you doing here?!" he said as he sat up and rolled off of you, placing his feet to the floor.
"your mother sent me," Hermes replied rocking on the heels of his flying feather boots. You sit up and watch as Eros rolls his eyes and grabs his pants and bow.
"wait out side would ya?" he snarled to Hermes.
"gladly," Hermes replied turning and walking quickly out of the room.
"not a very private family huh," you said as you knelt on your bed.
"ya, they're a pretty good cock block," he replied then turned to you. "I'll see you later then?" he asked.
"for a real date this time?" you asked coyly.
"ya, of course, wine ya, dine ya, then bring you home and," he paused then winked. You rolled your eyes and smiled shaking your head. He leaned to you and gave you a quick kiss.
"EROS! I haven't got all day! Let's go!" came Hermes' voice from the living room.
"I've got to go," he said quickly stepping away and towards the door.
"see you later then, Cupid," he turned gave you a look as if to say 'I'll get even' but you smiled. Shaking his head he left the room and you sat quietly on your bed still wondering if he was telling the truth about the humans first form... You shrugged it off. Tossing you feet off the bed to the floor, your foot hit something that rolled under your bed. Confused you stood and looked around. Then crouching down onto the floor you saw something long and wooden with a shine at the end. Reaching under you grabbed it and pulled it out so you could see it better.
In your hand you held two arrows, both made from an unusually beautiful white wood, amazing details painted along their length, silky white feathers at one end and at the other they were tipped with a gorgeous silver heart shaped point. Tying them together was a ribbon with a note on it.
"one from me to you and the other from you to me.
Eros. "
You smiled and then turned to note over.
