Rainbow Dash just landed in the middle of the town at night when Scootaloo arrives close by.
Scootalo: Hey Rainbow Dash...
Rainbow Dash: Scoots? What are you doing outside at this hour?
S: Oh! don't worry.
RD: You can get lost pretty easily in the dark...
S: The dark? I can see clearly in the dark...
RD: Huh? There is something's different about you...
S: Oh! You noticed?
RD: Well... You just said me you can see in the dark... and those eyes... they glow in the dark.
S: Cool, uh?
RD: Uh, yeah. Wait! Are those....
S: Yeah! Bat wings!
RD: I'm talking about the fangs.... What? You got bat wings?
S: And I can fly!!! I can fly with those wings! Like every pegasi... like you!
RD: Scoots.... you are no longer a pegasus now...
S: I.... I know... but I can fly! That is so awesome! I will able to fly with you! By your side!
RD: Uh...
S: You could teach me all your most awesome air tricks...
RD: Scoots.... Wait a second!
S: What?
RD: *sigh* You are no longer a pegasus now. You are a batpony.
S: Yeah, and?
RD: Pegasus fly during the day.... mostly because we can't see much in the dark. Batponies... well.... fly mostly at night....
S: Uh? What... what do you mean?
RD: I'm sorry squirt.... but we won't be able to fly together....
S: What?
RD: And the aerial tricks I do can only be done by pegasi... because you don't have the same kind of wings now than me...
S: But.... *tears in eyes*
RD: I'm sorry Scoo...
S: No! I refuse to accept this! *tears in eyes*
RD: But it is the thruth.... you can't...
S: No! I worked so hard and sacrificed so much just for being able to fly with you! Now that I can fly... you tell me I can't fly with you because I'm different?
RD: Well... it is quite obvious..
S: *tears* No! I'm still Scootaloo! *sniff* The little filly that kept dreaming to fly with her idol... YOU!!!!
RD: Uh....
S: *tears* And even if I have different wings and eyes than yours.... *sob* I still have this admiration for you that nothing can't change... that is still there in my heart! I want to fly with you everywhere.... Night and day.... *sniff*
RD: Scoots.... *tears*
S: I want to fly with you.... *sob* I always wanted to...
Rainbow Dash advanced toward the little newly batpony and took her in her hooves to give her a hug. She was crying, tears falling from her eyes... enable to talk...
S: R...rainbow Dash?
It took a moment until she could say something. She swept her tears with a hoof.
RD: I... I never expected you to go this far.... just for flying with me... *sniff* What... what were you thinking?
S: *tears* I.... I....
RD: I was ready to do the impossible so you could fly.... *sniff* But now... it's too late... *sniff*
S: *tears*
RD: Too late for turning back.... for me...
S: W... what do you mean?
RD: I.... I will teach you.....
S: W... what?
RD: We  probably don't have the same wings... but we will figure it out a way for you to do those tricks....
S: W... what.... se-seriously? *tears*
RD: You asked me to be under my wing.... and I accepted it. I don't let down my friends.... even less someone under my teach...
Scootaloo was hugging Rainbow Dash... tears of joy filling her eyes.
RD: Yeah... It will be harder to teach you.... and will probably need the help of Twi and her books for some informations but....
S: Thank you..... thank you so much..... I was so scared that you would abandon me....
RD: Me? Abandonning you? You  know Rainbow Dash! I never quit! Even less those I care...
S: I'm sorry for doubting you...
RD: *smiling* Well, we will have to make a schedule. For now... I'm going to bed....
S: Can I come?
RD: Uh... you are a noctural now. You must stay awake in the night.
S: I heard they can stay awake in the day...
RD: That's now you tell me this? Urgh.
S: S-sorry.
RD: No... that's okay. But you need to go home now. And get some rest. We begin tomorrow after school..

Am I wrong to think that Scootaloo looks cooler as a bat pony than as a pegasus?

(BTW, not that anyone cares, but my headcanon name for a bat pony is an alatus (plural: alati). It is derived from the Latin for wing.)
