I am not a fan of the dead-center-like composition but I dig the use of DOF, grain and skin texture a lot.
Priceless expression, wonderful look and catchlight, great defocused background, excellent light, tons of mood, interesting story.

This picture, this series, I should say, has the same power as Richard Avedon's "In The American West" Series. They are magnificent. I applaud you for your brilliant images and capability of capturing such awesome emotion.

Das Bild ist genial. Ich habe es schon auf Deiner Webseite bewundert, konnte aber da nichts dazu schreiben (dazu haben wir ja DA) - Grossartig!!! Sie schaut ein bisschen vorwurfsvoll, oder? Das Leben war bestimmt nicht immer gut zu ihr. Meine Schwiegeroma erging es ebenso - und sie ist trotzdem ein positiver Mensch geblieben.
