A very striking and powerful photo, the impact of the image is immediate, the horses clashing throught the water with spray in the air is reminiscent of scenes from epic films such as Ben-Hur.
The photograher's skill with the camera is very evident, the shot is perfectly timed and in great focus, showing minute details, such as the water droplets and the strong expression of the man in the backgound. I also love the way the light hits the horse in the background, it show it was taken on a sunny day, something you can't immediately tell because of the black and white colouring.
The photo being in black and white adds to the drama, it gives it a vintage and almost victorian look.
One minor fault I think is that the whip is covering the man's face slightly, which is a bit of a shame as his expression adds to the impact of the scene, but of course this can't be helped by the photographer.
Overall a strong and interesting photo.
