RamonaQ — Another Little Brown Dog

Description Today's work, another little brown dog of indeterminate breed. This is 8" by 10", a commission. The reference photo didn't have much in the way of shadows on it, so I kind of played the shadows by ear, as they say.

He looks kind of like a Puggle. Half beagle half pug.

"Puggle" I imagine a beagle/pug would be a pretty cute mix. I don't know what breed this little fellow is, so I assume he's sort of a "Heinz 57 varieties".

Thank you! Sometimes the photos are taken with flash, which really messes up the shadows, so I occasionally just add shadows to make it look a little more "real".

Wow, thanks! The lady who ordered this one brought a camera card to the gallery with literally hundreds of photos! We went through them all until we found the one she really wanted me to paint.

awww I love the expression. So I guess by indeterminate you means he is a heinz 57 (its a polite way to say mutt if you are unfamiliar with the term lol)

Thank you very much! Yep, he's a "mixed" breed, I believe, but there are an awful lot of really nice mixed breeds around. If I were to guess a breed, I probably say mountain feist - they always look like mixed breeds.

Thank you! I've got a ruined flat brush that I use for fur - it's great because the bristles have seperated, so it makes pretty nice fur.
