Description This was one of my holiday commissions. Cockers are difficult because of the waviness of the fur. For short-haired dogs, fur is pretty easy because it's mainly just a water wash over patches of colour. Cockers have a delicate wave to them that's just difficult to make look authentic. On the other hand, that's one of my better eyes, I think. Watercolour, 9" by 12".

Such a wonderful job on getting the wavy softness in those ears! Cockers are so beautiful. I love their soft wavy hair.

Thanks! This was part of a set of paintings I did for one person for the holidays, and I had to pick a background that was neutral, dignified and went well with each of the pups. I really appreciate it!

Thanks very much, Jon! Well, the dogs and cats are really where I make my living - most of the stuff Ancient puts up are just for funsies. I figure if I paint enough animals, I'll eventually get pretty good at it.

Splendid! Her/his eyes are beautiful, I love them! And the fur is very well done, I'm impressed I know that it's hard to paint hair like that.. I tried to paint a selfportrait once, and you've seen my hair.. It was like mission impossible, so I have to repeat that I'm impressed Very good job

I imagine trying to paint your hair would be very difficult indeed - it would have to be a long and complicated procedure! I don't think I'd even try it in watercolour...

Thank you very much! These particular dogs are really hard to get right, so I tried to get the eyes as best I could! Maybe if people look at the eyes, they won't notice how awful the ears are!

Thanks very much! The background is just heavy water with dabs of sepia and black in it. I think it's "dignified".
