Description First of all, I apologize for taking so long to answer all the comments this week - starting a new gallery is hard work, and I've not had as much time to participate as I'd like. I promise I'll get up early and answer the messages.

This is a work I completed today; a commission for a very special client. I've been practicing koi some, but I've never attempted a full-blown painting of them before. This is watercolour, 11" by 14". They're really a lot of fun to paint; I think I'll do some more soon.

Thank you very much! I enjoyed painting these because it gave me a chance to use colours I almost never get to use! Koi are really pretty cool, I think!

Thanks! I noticed you've added it to your favourites, and I really appreciate it. I got a note from the lady who commissioned it, and she seemed tremendously pleased. She's the one who owns Moose, so I had to do well!

Hey, your package arrived yesterday, if you can believe it! God bless the USPS - you never know what's going to happen! I'll mat them today, frame a couple and put them out; we'll see if we get any nibbles.

Yup yup. Sure, I'm a big fan of Koi. I should send the image to a friend of mine who worked at a koi farm. Yeah, I'd be suprised if she wasn't pleased.

Yesterday! Ha. Amazing. I was thinking maybe Tomorrow or thursday. Sweet. I take it everything arrived alright.

They look great! I was really careful in taking them out because I didn't want to get fingerprints on them. Yesterday was a stained-glass day for me, so I didn't do any framing (for once). Looks like I'm finally going to get my partner next week - a Panamanian graphic artist named Marissa (very cool and very laid back - I think it'll be a good match).

Good. I'm worried they much get bent or something. Heh, well I'm sure there were some finger prints since I signed them... should I have worn gloves or something?

oh cool. Sounds like a good person to work with.

They're spotless and beautiful, actually. I matted them all black in and white out, and they're really sharp-looking. I'm looking forward to hearing what people say about them. You know my favourite is "Beauty", but Pepper likes the drunk girl! We're interested now to see which one goes first.
Marissa is really a fun person; most of her work is very stylized and colourful, so it's very different from mine. I think we'll make a good team.

Good good. Oh that sounds pretty good. Oh, I'm looking forward to that too. Hey cool, I really like "Party Girl" too.

That's very good, nice to have variety.

Yeah, you did a really great job on it.
Those fish are so pretty in real life, and some of em are real big too - they're kinda scary lol

Yeah, i've been pretty busy w/ school, i haven't had time for much.... T-T

They can get really huge! I saw some at Callaway Gardens that were almost two feet long! they could practically eat my whole hand!
School comes first, so smart move on your part. You only get one shot at it, and we'll all be here when you have time!

I don't remember how big they were, but when i went to Hawaii, the Dole pineapple plantation had a Koi pond, and the fish went crazy when you fed them
I thought they were really big, but then again i was pretty little then...
Yeah... i suppose school is a smart move... lol
It's the first week after spring break and i'm already sick of school, lol XP

I was just browsing the net the other day for koi because my lovely and talented wife wanted a bigger pond, and I saw a 29-pound koi! It was as big as a dog!

I'm not on as much.... my teachers keep sending home these papers and assignments w/ me.... I think they're trying to make me learn something.... who knows...
Thanks!!! I thought it was time for a new avi and Mikan'd fun to do

RamonaQ In reply to prettypixie4949 [2007-04-12 09:39:44 +0000 UTC]

You probably have little to worry about! The chances of being eaten by a big fish are pretty slim...

Well, I'm glad to hear you take your schoolwork seriously. A lot of people get on DA for hours and hours and complain about their grades. "Hey, if you'd do your work instead of goofing around on the computer, you might have better grades!"

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

prettypixie4949 In reply to RamonaQ [2007-04-14 04:30:48 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, there's probably a better chance that i'd eat a big fish, huh? lol

Yeah, i really do take school really seriously.... I have this thing where if i don't get an 'A' then i feel like i've failed

RamonaQ In reply to prettypixie4949 [2007-04-15 18:29:04 +0000 UTC]

Wow! That's just the way I was in school! If I didn't get the highest grade in the class, I'd be crushed. I treated it like a contest, so I usually did well. So you're brainy and a brilliant artist. I'm impressed!

I'm not too bad though. These Korean twins i know are devestated if they only get a 95% on things... crazy Asians j/k
XD i guess i'm brainy.... I don't see it as anything too amazing. I believe anyone could get good grades, it's just that a majority of the school's population is too lazy lol

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RamonaQ In reply to prettypixie4949 [2007-04-16 10:10:05 +0000 UTC]

I know a few people like that - when you're constantly striving for perfect grades, you're bound to be disappointed now and again. I got my first "C" when I was in law school - I couldn't believe my eyes! I almost dropped out, but then somebody said, "The A's become judges, the B's become clerks. The C's become rich."
I agree on the lazy part. There was never any question that my daughter would go to college and get good gardes in school, but I just can't believe my ears when I hear parents tell their kids they don't want them "wasting four years" in college!

prettypixie4949 In reply to RamonaQ [2007-04-17 03:19:54 +0000 UTC]

Parents actually say that!?!
My parents say that i'd better get scholarships because they're not gonna pay for a lot of it, but if i ever said that i wasn't going to college, i think they'd disown and kill me XD

RamonaQ In reply to prettypixie4949 [2007-04-17 08:15:13 +0000 UTC]

I actually heard one of the parents of one of our foster kids say that once. I was like, "Dude, you work fast-food for a living!"
I'm sure you'll get plenty of scholarship help - there's a ton of it out there. I got one for being the grandson of a Norwegian dentist, and another for playing little league baseball in addition to the academic scholarships. There are a boatload of religious and heritage scholarships, too, if you look for them.

Thanks! I was kind of proud of the water - water's always hard. (That's "hard" as in difficult, not solid. Solid water is ice, and it's not always ice, just sometimes).

Or worse still - slush. D: People around here complain because it never snows, but I'm from the north country, and it gets really nasty there around this time of year with all the slush. Ick!

We had snow this year, actually. One of my neighbours came running over to let us know. She stood outside saying, "Look! There's one! ...There's another one!"
"Uh, are you sure that's not just dandruff?"

That's the thing about commissions and the new gallery - I have to send all the stuff I like and the new stuff away! So the gallery's got old things and things I'm not particularly fond of. Now that the commissions are slowing, maybe I'll have time to do a couple more like this.
