A new Tiny Tip, finally! Sorry for the delay, it's been almost half a year since the last tutorial. I'll really try to be more regular again.
This time we deal with the fact that one colour alone isn't enough for any one thing. Always pick more than one, like a cooler shadow colour, a more saturated one for the transition between light and dark, and a brighter, desaturated one for the peak highlights, and so on. You'll notice an immediate difference and surplus in visual interest, in even plain areas of the painting.
My reference for the portrait drawing was the photo "Hetalia Hungary" by chiyotan .
