Description I really like that spiral :]

Can you find out what it is? It was a spur of the moment idea that turned into a spur of infinity ;]

Yep, very well, a pipe!

Sorry, for my late reply, I was overwhelmed with messages. I'll also get back to your long message, but it calls for a long reply so I need to have time.

This is a fairly simple shot; and a nicely done one at that.

I like the gradient to the coloring in the shot, from the dark blue to the lighter, almost white in the center of the image.

My only slight complaint would be that towards the center of the image, near the almost white part, the edges seem a bit blurred. It's not much, but it slightly detracts from the image in my opinion.

Very nice, I'm looking forward to browsing the rest of your gallery.

Thank you for your in-depth comment!

I think the lines are blurring because in the distance the details grow so fine that light and shadows of the groove become indiscernible. I don't think it's anything I could have changed with different camera settings, nothing under my influence.

It is a tube, and I don't know what it was used for. Was about 30cm / 1 foot in diameter.

Gorgeous picture! The colors on the inside of the tube are just phenomenal - I never would have guessed it would look like that. What really makes it for me are the two shadow streaks in the upper right-hand corner. They help to focus the eye on the center and cut through the overall shininess of it.

How big was this tube?

Thank you for the fav! And also for checking out my stuff, not many people return comments
The tube was about 1 foot in diameter. Good that you point out those streaks - I never consciously noticed them before. You're right, they sorta point into the middle. So even the 30th comment can reveal new aspects of my own photo to me - thanks :]

It's a plastic tube, diameter maybe 1 foot / 30 cm.

This is one of your most interesting shots in all its complex simplicity. First of all, I really like the pale electric blue colour, it gives some sort of action to the shot.

Secondly, I like how I get confused watching this. Though I know it's a pipe, I don't know whether I'm sliding it down or climbing it up and I keep wondering where it will lead me. Though in a way this is one of those "light at the end of the tunnel"-kind of shots this still does not remind me of that kind of experience. This is more like an adventure and gives me an experience that could be from an action movie; the hero going through this pipe and at the end of it oh gee, the answer to all the mysteries that have come up during the movie. A secret labratory, a hidden paradise, anything.

I also like how the pipe is blurred at the end, giving it a more lenghty look, like it's going on forever and ever. I was just wondering if you had photoshopped something from there because the edges look a bit edited? Doesn't bother me though, was just wondering. Great work, all in all.

Thanks so much for taking the time to write this lovely comment! It's really interesting, I don't think anyone ever wrote so in-depth about how they felt and thought when looking at my pictures :]
The revelation, the enlightening at the end of the tunnel

Yes, there was a beam going from 11 to 7... and I see, the edge is kinda hard at 11. Anyway, thank you for your long comment and for liking my photo :]

Ratafluke In reply to Enutpnut [2006-05-28 00:20:51 +0000 UTC]

No it is a spiral! I don't know why, but for some reason there was a spiral pattern along that plastic tube.

Great capture of the spiral: those spur of the moment things usually lead to pretty good results! The fact that one can't see "anything" at the end of the spiral, adds to the effect. I would have not been able to guess what it was, but fortunately I read the comment before!

And I wanted to also thank you for your comment on my "Down sunset boulevard". As I got a vote in the contest, I think it must have been yours! It is very much appreciated!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Ratafluke In reply to thepalantir [2005-11-20 12:40:05 +0000 UTC]

There was a blue beam that I photoshopped away.... guess I could have achieved the same results by moving the tube a bit before taking the photo. Such are spur of the moment photos, that they lead to afterthoughts and postprocessing ;]

Your thanks need to go to someone else, I voted for another photo (that only got a single vote, too). Strange that someone would vote for you and not comment!
