Description
The Bell Jet Ranger has been my favorite helicopter for as long as I can remember. I was a huge fan as a kid, with much of my enthusiasm being inspired by the short-lived 1974 TV show "Chopper One," starring Ted Hartley and a young Dirk Benedict (who later rose to fame as Starbuck in the original Battlestar Galactica series, and Face in the A-Team series, as well as a starring in a number of other successful roles.) I just loved the lines of this beautiful craft. It was part the reason that I became an air enthusiast. My brother and I used to research all the cool planes in our local library. We'd research the Jet Ranger, the F-14, F-15, F-16, F-18, A-10, etc, when many of these now-famous designs were still brand new. Then we would send away to the manufacturers of these craft requesting anything they could send us.  Our efforts were rewarded with thick envelopes bulging with cool photos, brochures, performance stats, and other cool promotional materials that we read from cover to cover. Later, we went to see all of these craft in person at the Dayton Air Show, where we got a chance to meet and chat with the pilots. They were often surprised an impressed with how much we knew about all these planes. Even though we were just kids, we often knew a lot more than many of the adults in attendance. Of course, we also built plastic model kits of all those craft, and collected cool patches and pins whenever we could.

So it was a lot of fun re-creating this beautiful chopper in CAD.  It still looks great to me. Building it brought back a lot of fun childhood memories. (It's got some pretty tricky curves though.)

The Bell Jet Ranger was a very popular design, widely used by businesses, TV News channels, the military, and many police departments.  Since I'm a huge Batman fan, I decided to make this particular helicopter a police helicopter assigned to Gotham City's GCPD.
