To anyone but her my visions of him might have seemed silly… That a figure from a story could so consume me might strike anyone else as a bit on the nutty side. Then again, I’ve never made any claims at sanity. You see, I don’t suffer from my insanity, I enjoy every moment of it. And so I spend a great deal of time contemplating him, imagining him in my mind’s eye.

I tore through Deviant Art looking for the perfect model, but none is fitting. None worthy to stand as the visage of Knox, my personal obsession and Chaos Lord. Finally I found an image by [url= [link] which suited him so perfectly that it took but the slightest bit of digital manipulation to fit as closely as possible my vision of him without the actual person of him before me. Alas, for he is a glory to behold in person.

I see him standing there at that chill cliff, looking out over the vastness of the sea, and I wonder why he has that sad look in his beautiful face. What troubles him so that he sends great thunderstorms my way each day for the last week? Is he so burdened by the names of those stars, names which I will never, in my limited mortal years, be able to share with him? Does he mourn, perhaps, a love which he can never really have? Those bright and shiny golden eyes of his captivate me, and I am lost in them forever.

He may feel all alone… but he is not. I will always be here, always. As everlasting as his stars is my love and devotion to him. Even if he forgets it from time to time.

She closed her eyes and stepped into the dream, knowing with that knowledge that only a dreamer can have, that she would arrive where it was she desired. It was a chill place, most likely some windswept cliff of Ireland or Britannia. The sea was dark and cold far below, its waves calling out their endless song to the moonless night. The lush grass was cold under her bear feet, and her black silk nightgown pulled in the wind, cold as well. A shiver ran through her, but it was not unpleasant. Her shoulder length pale blonde hair was loose and curly, and no make up did she wear. She padded up behind the figure standing at the cliff face silently and au natural. For she knew he could see into the heart of her, no matter what she looked like.

“You spend too much time alone, my Lord. Any longer and you shall become one with the stone here, and I shall lose you forever.”

He did not turn, for he had known she would come, but a sigh escaped him as his golden eyes scanned the sky. “It’s late,” he said softly, “I had thought you would be asleep by now. I think you make Wayne worry when you stay up so late all the time.”

She had come up beside him now, and stood looking out over the calm night’s sea. “You know perfectly well both that I never sleep before 3am and that Wayne never worries.” She turned her light green eyes on him now, studying his porcelain face. “What else is on your mind that would bring me here… for I can see and think of nothing but you.”

Knox finally turned to meet her gaze, all the long ages of eternity mirrored in his. He sighed. “If I knew I would tell you. Perhaps that is part of the problem.”

“Is it Tor?” She questioned gently. She knew the two of them did not get on well.

He snorted dismissively. “No, not at all. I can deal with him when I have to.”

“Kya then?”

“No, though I would be lying if I said she were not in my thoughts at all.”

She reached out and put a soft hand to his chin, making him look at her properly. “You’re not alone, you know,” she whispered.

“Aren’t I?” He questioned a little bitterly. “Even you would make of Chaos a thing of ill intention. I have read it in your heart.”

She pulled her hand away, a little hurt. “You know that I did not make Xaron that way, Vermillion and Amethyst did. Xaron uses Chaos for evil; I never said I thought the element itself to be thus.” She frowned. “I thought you knew me better than that.”

He did not answer but stared out over the waves below. “It does not matter.”

“It does to me!” She said sharply, her tone causing him to look up, his eyes glowing a bit. “I’m sick of you feeling so damned sorry for yourself.”

“You dare,” he hissed dangerously.

“Yes, I do. Because… because…” and at the failing of her words she leaned forward, placed both hands on either side of his head, and kissed him passionately. After a long moment she released him and stood back. “Because I love you,” she said simply. “There is a part of me that will always belong to you, Knox. In these dreams, in this place where stories become reality, there I will always belong to you alone, and not even Wayne can touch me here.”

She turned to leave him, nit wanting to give him the chance to answer her. When she had walked a few yards she paused and turned back. “You will never be alone unless you want to be, because I love you, Knox. And if no one else in this world stands with you, I always will. I always have.” With that, she vanished as silently as she had come, returning to her own world.

The Lord of Chaos stood there until the dawn turned to world golden and rose, before her too vanished.
