Description My first-ever December crossing of Yosemite National Park's "high road" to the east side of the Sierra Nevada: 9,945 ft/3,031 m Tioga Pass. (Ordinarily, the road closes in November due to snow and ice, not opening again until maybe May or June...Tuesday, Dec 4th, two days after my drive, it closed due to ice on the road, with snowfall expected before week's end/)

The view here is dawn at Tenaya Lake (8,150 ft / 2,484 m), and despite the 6 degree F (-14 C) temp, wasn't frozen due to the lake depth and the nearly constant breeze.

More from this solo mountain drive will be added, including a journal entry.

Thank YOU for reminding me of daytrip I haven't had in mind for awhile.

Best Wishes...from California to Iowa
