Hi! I love your costumes! 1 question, when your making gun holsters you put some plastics in your oven, what temperature and how long time do you use? I checked your video where you talked about your cosplay career and you did that but I couldnt find wich temperature thanks in advance!

Thanks for the kind words!
It depends on the material really, just heat up quite a bit and keep watching it or you'll have plastic soup in your oven.... not good. Make sure to ventilate the room and oven.

I'm actually curious as to the material and pattern you used for the waistcoat. Fantastic shot, superb makeup and costumery. Kudos out to you.

RBF-productions-NL In reply to spookyshoes01 [2013-01-17 08:39:12 +0000 UTC]

Thank!!!
The patern I used was a standard T-shirt patern that I then editted on the material. Just kind of sewed the different parts together and editted untill I was satisfied.

Materials are linnen/synthetic mixtures. The beige has some stretch (bought stuff early spring... only strecth available then... urgh) and the blue is a material woven of different colors. Also linnen I believe.

This is AMAZING. YOU are AMAZING. You've basically sculpted a piece of art through cloth...and you wear it so well! The details are incredible. The fact that it looks so worn is perfect. Most costumes from ANY fandom tend to look too pristine and new. This looks like you've actually been running over real rooftops for a couple years.

I'm so sorry for the douchebaggery from the previous nonsense. I'm not going to go into it here, but you and your wife really deserve to be saluted for the amount of work you both put into your craft. It's obvious you do this out of love for the series and total respect for the characters. Please know that for the handful of idiots out there who can't see that, there are many more of us that sincerely appreciate this and your amazing efforts.

Wow, I love your costume, I'm impressed. I don't see that many really good costumes and I have to say, you look like you just walked out of the game, right out of a battle.

I hope you don't mind me asking, I'm making an Altair costume, using leather, period fabrics and such, and I saw in the comments you said you painted the fabric to make it look distressed, but what kind of paints did you use and how did you apply it?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RBF-productions-NL In reply to TarasqueProductions [2012-12-28 16:33:33 +0000 UTC]

Allright, get ready for some extremely difficult tutorial and make sure to take notes...

Go to the local hardware store and buy paint, like what you use to paint furniture and your garden fence with...
Donnot use water based paints but the alcydd based ones. That way you can wash em safely afterwards and everything will still look dirty but smell nice and soapy...

Next, cut a fake sponge into little squares and use them as stamps. You can also use rough big brushes... old pieces of cloth... your fingers. Anything really. Rub the paint in nicely. Don;t make thick layers, that won;t hold. You'll want to accentuate seam lines and such not recollor the textile entirely...

Seriously... Paint... Sponge... smack it on. (Got that down?)

That's it

Thanks for the compliments

Let me know how it turns out!!

Is there any type of alkyd paint that you would suggest or are is any ok?

You're welcome, as I see it, you deserve the praise. I can't imagine the amount of work you invested into these costumes.
