It has to be sanded and polished to a high degree, then I send it to a company that vacuumm metalizes it. They put it in a vacuum chamber and inject the chamber with steel vapor. It automatically sticks to the helmet and creates the shiny surface.
Costs about $170 to do.

There are other processes but they all cost about the same.

thats super cool. its funny that you posted this cuz im looken to make a project of a full robot with in the next few years. can you link me to a website if they have one, then mby i could find a place that can do that around here.
