First off, let me make this clear. I don't like Blair. She is my least favorite character. Now, I'll explain why.She is a cat person, and has magical powers on par with a powerful witch. These WOULD make her friggen awesome. However...she does nothing useful in the anime whatsoever. She has no meaningful impact on the story, and aside from her battle with Maka during her first appearance, she doesn't really use her powers for fighting at all. She started fighting the Mizune witches...which turned into a wrestling match between half-naked women as opposed to an epic battle.
I believe Blair could have been one of the coolest characters, but she is there purely for fan-service. Just for people to go "OMGBOOOOBS!" And, because that is her only real purpose in the story, I hate her.
EDIT: Several people have informed me that Blair is much more useful in the manga. I am aware of this, but this poster only refers to her anime version, and my opinion of her in the anime.

If the Sakura you're talking about is who I think you're talking about, and judging from what little I've seen of both anime, I'd say the major difference is that Blair is fun and likable, whereas Sakura's just kind of an annoying bitch.
They're both pretty useless, though. I'll agree to that. I thought Blair was a fun character, but the fact remains that she hardly did anything besides serve is comic relief and Ms. Fanservice throughout the anime.
Black Star annoyed the piss outta me, though. Reminded me too goddamn much of Naruto, the little bastard.

Yep, that Sakura, from Naruto. I mean, it's not like I hate her, but... I mean, the bandwagon is right, she's pretty much useless. True though, at least Blair gives us something to laugh at, and gives the pervy guys something to look at. But what she did with the present from Spirit for Maka after the big test...I can't forgive her for that.
I hated black Star as well. He had his good points, but... well... he was irritating. Very much so. This is a poster I made of him, you may find it amusing. [link]

In some of the later chapters (the anime kind of fell flat), Blair helps fight against the Clown Army.

While I respect your veiw, may I ask why you try and look at the character deeper then you should. She's just a funny character that has alot of funny moments, and is kinda the main "fan-service" character. If you dont like her just because she doesnt DO anything why dont you just enjoy the fan-service she offers. Even if a girl is "useless" as long as I can she her in the tub more the once, I dont complain. And neither should you. If you think about it, alot of characters are "useless" yet still are well-liked. In the Peanuts comics, Snoopy was pretty much usless. He never tried to make Charlie Brown feel better and was always in his own little world. Yet alot of people like him. In Star Wars, Princess Leia was "useless" becasue all she did was kill Jabba the Hut. Besides that not much else. Yet everyone (including myself) love her. And as much as it sickens me to say it, in 'Adventure Time' Marceline is "useless". She doesnt do much, never helps Finn and Jake save princesses and even said in one episode she doesnt want to hang out with them anymore. Yet ALOT of guys love her (including myself)So I guess it just is a matter of taste. I love Blair and really dont care if she is "useless", because that word can mean alot of different things.
Plus she is drop dead gorgeous and at the same time, cute as hell. And you see her naked in the tub more then once, so why hate on her?

You make a fair point, sir. My main reason for making this picture was the battle in the anime of Blair vs. Mizune. I got excited, really expecting to see an awesome battle between two powerful magic users. And all I got was an awkward fan-service scene. It's kinda like ordering a big old cheeseburger, taking it all the way home, then realizing they forgot the actual burger. Sure, I like bread and salad and stuff, but it's not what I thought and hoped that I would get. Given Blair's first battle against Maka, I kinda thought she'd end up being the overpowered neutral character who just happened to side with the good guys... but she's pure fan-service. And I mean sure, she's a very attractive character, I'm just disappointed because I had hopes for her to be more than just a fan-service character.

Yeah, I see what you mean. I was looking forward to the fight with Mizune too, and while I enjoyed it, I wished it was a little more of a fight. And I also wish she had more to offer then just boobs. She really is a good character and its a shame she just a background character. And when they do show her, its like you said, just fan-service. While I enjoy it, I also like characters having something else to offer.

Yes, exactly, and that's what ticks me off. It's not really so much that I hate Blair, as I hate the missed potential of Blair as a character given her role. Shoot, take Erza Scarlet from Fairy Tail. I don't know if you've seen it, but given some of her outfits, she's clearly supposed to be at least something of a fan-service character. And yet, she's also the most powerful female wizard in her guild, and time and again proves that she's more capable and more useful than any other main character. Sure, she's not the MAIN fan service character, because that'd be Lucy, but even Lucy has more development (er, character based, not uh, *ahem* womanly development) and activity than Blair. =/

I know just what you mean. Hell, I started watching Soul Eater just for Blair. And all I get is seeing her every 2 ep. for about 11 seconds and most of the time she's in the tub. Sure, its hot, but thats like the only time you see her! I wish they could show us what she can do. I mean yeah, I like fan-service, but I also like actual characters. Not just fan service.
I havent seen Fairy Tail yet. I'll give it a watch

It's pretty good, particularly the characterization, but I'm gonna warn you, it's still a shounen anime. Sometimes, stuff just happens and everything works out fine with no explanation. That said, it's once of the best shounen anime I've seen in a while. Definitely worth checking out.

lolz Sakura is sooo freaken useless in battle... in mission great to have a heal... You know what pisses me off how they make the girl strong as all hell but they need a guy to save their asses everytime they fight or have another person to fight with them and save their asses. Shit why the hell make a girl strong if she is just gonna end up being saved =w=
My fav anime girls: Hinata Hyuuga, Sango, Temari, Tenten, Tsunade, Erza, (I dont like the bitchy girls like sakura cause in my opinion if they dont really try leave their asses if someone trying I can see you trying to save them but if they treat you like crap you are gonna risk your life to save them? wth e-e)

Well of course the anime needs one character that exists purely for fanservice. But I don't know why everyone hates on her so much.
The way I see it, Blair as a character has the capacity to be one of the best characters in the whole show. I would LOVE to see some backstory on her or something. But that's not what the fandom wants- they (mostly the male audience) want Blair to continue being a pointless sex object, so Ohkubo isn't really going to ever spend time adding character development to her. But just because he won't expand on it doesn't mean it's not there (I like to think).
And you just have to know that she CAN be a better character. Which is why I think she's much better in some fanfictions- because some fanfiction writers really understand her character well and can write logical stories about her. The fact that she's not one of the main 6 means she pretty much gets no legit backstory (the only exception being the characters that appear in Soul Eater NOT!).
I don't know. I think she's awesome when she's not whoring on Soul.

Ohkubo really doesn't have a choice much. He HAS to have one character, at least, who caters to the male fandom's wants, and from the way I see it, it's good that at least that character is really kickass in general than just there for absolutely NO reason. At least she was pretty useful with some missions. Better than the one fanservice character doing nothing at all, from how I see it. That's just all I'm saying.
But I totally see what you're saying and I agree. I wish Blair could have more shining moments of "this character ISN'T just walking boobs, she's actually pretty fucking useful, thanks."

The original was for the PC and SNES, and I believe it was mature simply because it was kinda gory. I mean, you're shooting the crap out of demons, so.
Do you have steam? I'm pretty sure you can get a lot of the doom games off of there. I'd recomend Doom II. Great fun. *nod*

No, you don't need one. It's PC games, so they're pretty much designed to work with the mouse and keyboard. However, any controller you use with your PC, I'm sure you can use with those games.
