Description From a time far, far, away comes this resurrected image. Seeing as I actually decided to finish it after all these years (literally).....
I changed the name once again. Go fig This is what I've come up with so far, but I don't know if its good enough to call "finished." I don't know if it quite evokes the right feeling.

So will you tell me? How's the new look? What does it bring to mind? Any constructive criticism on areas I may need to keep working?
The one picture that likes to illude me. Thanks for any advice given.

It reminds me of a conversation there was in my classroom about euthanasia. A woman said she was againts it. I don't remember the reasons why but she said it had something to do with transcendence, that it was human nature to change and evolve.

Having looked at the previous one, I can definitely say this is an improvement. Facing the light source, she seems to be moving toward some sort of enlightenment. The leaves provide an element of nature in an otherwise unnatural environment (a city), and also give it a shamanistic or primal feeling, a return to nature from the empty, cold halls of civilization.

She seems to be totally in charge of her surroundings and her destiny, but at the same time is called forth by some greater power, and gives the impression of being willingly led. The buildings are definitely hers and hers alone; possibly there has never been anyone else here, this is her sanctuary. The movement of her dress and the similarity in color between it and the buildings suggests, in my mind, that the buildings are somehow a part or extension of herself. The building with the spire seems significant, but not in any particular or obvious way; it serves more to distract from the woman or draw attention to her environment than to impart any message or meaning. I'm not sure it needs to be so prominent.

I love this piece. It seems so simple, but at the same time it is incredibly rich with symbology. Very nice work.

I know this picture is older, but maybe you're still interested in info?

I love the green tones. I am very partial to green, and the hue that you used is just spectacular. When in full-view, it looks to me like she's bringing the breath of life to a cold, hard world. Like the forest will follow in her footsteps and bring that world back to life. But the orange of the leaves might not help so much with that?

I don't know that anything specifically needs to be fixed. The biggest suggestion I have is that from the thumbnail, all you see is a pretty lady and swirling green. Whatever route you take with this picture, I would suggest to make it more pronounced from the thumbnail.

But that's just my opinion and my impression. It really is a lovely piece and I love the soft texture of her gown. I actually love how you superimposed her again, is such a misty form. The piece is really very well done.

I really love this one! I see a spirit being who is visible in the corridor but the real her being invisible still behind the wall as all spirits usually are (invisible that is) - in other words, she projects herself through into real time and into a real building, where she perhaps regularly visits; maybe where she once lived her earthly life.

That's the way it goes. Once in a while you just get lucky and it turns out perfect on the first try. Usually though you need to feel your way through until it comes into focus in your mind. Trial and error. The ones that are a pain are the ones that make you grow as an artist Anyway, you did a beautiful job!

My first thought ( which is always expressed in word in my mind ) was OH MY GOOOOOD... =O
And a long pause with open mouth.

This looks so perfect, so magical, I cannot put it to any other words than these.. The leaves are not distracting, in my opinion they're very neat and fit in the theme and makes the movement in the wind much more detailed. The colors, lighting and the shadows are just perfect<3 Her clothes and body are so farylike and gracious.

I think the leaves are a little distracting, and don’t fit the theme, but I’m glad to see that you elevated the building above her; so that her pose can be better seen in relation to the building.

This, in turn, brings her superimposed spirit in to scale, then from a certain moral perspective, her body can be seen in direct relationship with the β€œbody” of the building; and her spirit, as the essential spirit, that is required, not only for building a spire above, even the light rays from the heavens, but also, the essential spirit required to maintain such a monument to human achievement on earth.

Unfortunately, her rapture has softened to repose, and she almost looks as if she’s taking a long moment of silence, in reverence to a soon to be fallen city; as if she’s preparing to abandon her great monuments to human achievement, taking with her, the last great spirit, which gave them their meaning.

β€œShe felt the whole struggle of her past rising before her and dropping away, leaving her here, on the height of this moment. She smiledβ€”and the words in her mind, appraising and stealing the past, were the words of courage, pride and dedication, which most men had never understood, the words of a business man’s language: β€œ Price no object.” …”It’s the end,” she said. β€œIt’s the beginning,” he answered.

really quite exceptional. i like the light airy feel and sense motion. it strikes me as an abandonment, not the careless self destructive letting go of, but the uplifting release toward. as though she has abandoned all that was holding her and accepted her true grace....

but i ramble... that that is what art is supposed to do, is it not.

errr....you're not gonna like this, but it gives me an urge to go and eat so i don't end up like her. she's on the borderline of painful anorexia.

her left foot looks a lil.....elf-slipper-ish (....i know...me and my words...) but i think that's more a play on lights and would look like that in real life anywayz.

the building perspectives and the colors and the whole background effect ROCKS. i love how she seems almost an afterthought, just a passing wanderer amidst a masterpiece of design. and yet she does not seem to mind. gotta love that attitude ^^

I absolutely love this piece, it's very beautiful. My one suggestion would be to give her the tiny impression of a smile, a itty little lift at the corners of her mouth. Of course, that might no t be the the feeling you were going for with this piece. Either way, gorgeous pic, great work.

Rebekah,

I can't comment on technique; I can just tell you what I see.

Comparing this with the previous version I think the leaves and mist(?) swirling up from behind and around her convey the sense of her being caught up in something bigger than herself, especially as the dress and mist merge as they rise. Her posture has her stretching up suggest she is being filled and empowered, yet her face and relaxed bearing convey a calm acceptance.

Her shadowy second towering up behind her suggest a power that comes from within her, particularly as the rising mist curves in and out to match the contours of her second self. She is becoming what she already really is. (It's the "be what your are" ethics of the Pauline epistles that suggest this idea to me.) This is what she was meant to be.

The city buildings both contrast and complement. They are tall and blocky in contrast to her smallness and fluidity, yet the same color fills them both. It is a different place, but it is her place. The buildings tower above but do not threaten. What she is becoming does not give her power over them (I don't see any signs of conflict) but allows her to move freely among them.

I don't know what to make of the at the far end with its brightly lit spire. The street leads directly to it, though she is not necessarily headed toward it. The mist and leaves encircle the spire but do not surround it. It does not threaten any more than the other buildings. Perhaps it is that what she is becoming enables her to meet whatever force is focused in that far tower. Their destinies are clearly linked, but the picture does not suggest how.

Yes, I find this one fascinating. I also think I fell in love with this lady the first time she appeared in your gallery.

Steve

You know what? You should try having her floating above the ground, with her legs kinda dangling down. You've got that extremely graceful feel to it, but the fact that she's grounded kinda ruins it. I think it'd really add to the overall feel if she was floating
