Description Hi!

Todays sketches are again of one of my other favourite to draw Marvel characters namely the HULK and WOLVERINE. I use these guys fairly often for warm ups. I have a million different ways to draw the HULK, but I am not 100% set in any one way as yet. The big one on the left is an intended ink piece, while the other 2 pencil drawings were simply warm-ups for tight pencil work. If/when I do get around to inking these sketches I have been posting there is a chance that I may make them available on ebay or sumthing...We'll see!

Again the colour here was done traditionally using copic markers, colour pencils and a little white paint.

Fans of DC comics may wonder why I havnt really 'sketched' any of their favourites....Well... I guess I didn't get around to it with this batch. I guess growing up I was always way more into the marvel stuff. They just had the cooler artists at the time, plus DC comics seemed more nerdy. (how so? I have no idea.) I do love Batman, however, and I do also tend to draw him a fair bit for warm-ups and sketches.

Thanks for looking!!

J.

I estimate about another 4 days worth of sketches and then I go back to the lab for a while!!

Hulk and Wolverine are (C) Marvel comics.

constructive criticism (no dis')...

This particular incarnation of "The Incredible HULK" is looking a lil' more "Solomon Grundy" than "Bruce Banner gone Gamma".

You know I love your art man - just something I noticed.

haha....cheers mate! U know I always appreciate some good critisism

I can't say I've seen solomon Grundy. I really need to come up with a Hulk which I am happy with though.

cheers dude!

You've never seen "Solomon Grundy"?

He's like a big Zombie type dude with very pale skin and white hair - his face is very weathered and similar to what you've drawn.

Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayum......He is basically a white version of the Hulk! Pretty spun out. I should be ashamed of myself for not knowing who he was too. Looks like a cool character to draw. I see what you mean now too.

J.

PS: Remember when I was gonna draw that Hulk script you wrote for me back in the day? haha... Probably still got that somewhere.

I admire how much detail you can accomplish with pencils! And I like this one a lot cuz it made me learn new tricks and techniques at character drawing. You rock dude!

Cool! Thats good to hear man. So what kind of stuff did you pick-up? I would be interested in finding out

J.

Juny In reply to Red-J [2006-04-01 17:28:12 +0000 UTC]

Aside of how could I detail with just pencils, I learn new ways of making "skeletons" using spheres on joints, tubes foir limbs, and not be afraind of letting the rough draft show.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Red-J In reply to Juny [2006-04-01 23:31:29 +0000 UTC]

ah, yes...I see what you mean. It is important to construct your skeletons to create a solid structure. Good point! I guess the biggest difference between a sketch and a finished piece is weather you can see how it was created or not. One of them, anyway.

cheers!

jaja...si es verdad que lo dibuje bien raro aqui. Seria interesante dibujar un comic de wolverine asi, pero estoy seguro q a marvel no les gustaria eso nada

Well, probably not for a little while. I have been concentrating alot more heavily on some actual finished comic book stuff, which means I can't show much around here for a while. Still, when something comes up, this is the place to look

cheers!

Looks cool man! Loving how you drew his feet!
I also like how you gave Hulk a more profound (not sure if this is the right word for it) chin in the top-right pic.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Red-J In reply to TheNass [2006-04-01 02:46:03 +0000 UTC]

thanks dude! I originally drew his feet in more of a floating position, but then I figured it would look cooler if they were actually standing on solid ground.
