Hey Guys!Has been a long ass time since I posted some new art, and hopefully I will be able to post up a few new drawings regularly for the next little while.
This piece is one I did for Darkhorse comics recently. It was published in their 20th Anniversary book, in which they got different creators to draw different characters to those which they originally did for the company. For example, I was asked to draw THE MASK, whereas Doug Mahnke drew Monkeyman and O'brien, Art Adams drew Ghost and Mark Nelson drew Go Boy 7!
That comic came out yesterday, so keep an eye out for it at your local shop. It's 25c, which I think is a bargain
Theres plenty of other pin-up art in there too.On the art side of things, this was a fun one off piece. The trouble with doing a one off gig like this is that you want to fit as much as you can into the one drawing, and things can get confusing. I'm not sure I did the character justice, but there are certainly plenty of 'easter eggs' in there for any true fans of "The Mask Strikes Back" comic series. I had fun with it anyway, and it was a good chance to make some art with a colourist I really dig, Edgar Delgado.

Boy oh boy.
The Mask was always my favourite film as a kid and it was recently brought to my attention again so I looked further into it and found out about the comics, so I quickly snapped up copies of the first three volumes.
They're awesome and this - both by extension and in its own right - is awesome.
The colouring is a joy to look at, with the pastel fading making Big Head stand out in the foreground, while the inks are unrivalled and the composition is excellent.
I may not have noticed all of the easter eggs, but I did pick up on the "Mahnke" guitar and "Snacky."

The comics were great fun. Glad to hear you dug them out and enjoyed them! It makes me very happy to hear when someone who is a true fan of the comic and the character gets a kick out of this piece of art.
The easter eggs you pointed out are the main ones. Others being "MIKE's" as in Mike Richardson, the big boss at Darkhorse. Also Walter being in there, as only those fans of the comic would know who he is. There is also a little Hellboy head on one of the girls shirts....

yeah...that dude's name is Walter. He basically wants to steal the mask and use it for his own greedy reasons throughout the comic series: Mask strikes back, and possibly others.

I'm actually not THAT much of Mask fan, but the pic REALLY rocks!! Again, I admire the way you put those blacks and then also those little jints of texture here and there. And also how you blend that gory stuff with cartooniness; cool! And then those little details in the costume, and the guitar looks cool too...BUT my FAVOURITE is the little rabbit humping Mask's left leg; he's just HILARIOUS!!!
...unfortunately, over here I couldn't find the book...
...and congratz for working with my one of my favourite colourists in modern comics!!

thanks dude. It was a pretty fun piece to work on. I tried to put a lot of info in there, knowing that it was a pin-up book. My plan was to get people to spend a little extra time on the page looking at all the different things. Too bad you couldn't find the book. I only have 2 copies myself, but I wouldn't mind to get a bunch more for such cases!

I'm sure it was! Doing such pin-ups is a blast, cause you can really cram so many stuff into one pic, which would be too much if it was made for a comic-page... And I for myself love it too too put little details here and there so as people have fun discovering them, but also for me to have fun drawing them...
As for the book, yeah, sometimes we here in Europe don't get them cause the demand in the States is too big (..like for example I have Civil War #1 and 3, still haven't got #2...argh!!) ...maybe that's one reason why I started drawing comics, so that I don't have to wait for others to come out... *lol*
Anyway, really cool pic in the end!! looking forward to more!! and can't wait to see some new books from you!!

Wonderful drawing. There is quite some detail, it's funny, yet morbid, and the coloring is amazing and very suitable for comics like this. Great job.
