Well they´re techno-created organics meant to used by the Tenno in order to control their unstable void energy, but I´m not sure if they have a mind of their own, still I have to do more research on how did the warframe remove the sword from itself...

I believe that Warframes with no bond are a whole lot like "wild Pokemon". For example, Chroma is a Warframe you end up fighting at one point, yet it has no owner. And then there's of course Stalker, who is a Warframe that is hell-bent on destroying the Tenno for vengeance. A Warframe under an operator's command "acts" as their avatar in some ways, but in the end they will do whatever's necessary to protect their operator, with or without a bond.

It has also been debated whether the Stalker is a Spectre Warframe (A warframe with no Operator) or an Operator. Let's remember how the Stalker became the Stalker, in the Second Dream Hunhow quoted: "But you're asking yourself, Was I one this wretched things?" This could mean the Stalker used to be a Tenno with it's Warframe, but at one time it's Operator went too much into Transference that IT became the Warframe and the Operator's body is now dead and it's consciousness is inside the Warframe OR  the Operator died and the "Stalker" warframe had the consciousness of the Operator, meaning the Warframe thought it was the Operator and after realizing he was just a "metal puppet" with no personal memories he instead went into "madness" blaming the Tenno for not knowing who he really was.

I do remember Lotus saying that the Stalker went "insane" by the discovery of the Tenno Reservoir. I have the theory that he killed his own Operator out of pure disbelief and became a sole entity.
