Description Top Row, L-R (The Hand):
Existing since the Feudal Era of Japan, ninjas are the nation’s elite warriors, trained in the arts of espionage, sabotage, and assassination. Perfecting techniques invented in China, the first Japanese ninjas (now considered the “Gods of the Ninjas” after their deaths), together known as the “Densetsu Sannin”, were Tsunade, Jiraiya, and Orochimaru. The ninjas are known for manipulating their life energy (chi) to fundamentally reshape reality for a short period of time; this techniques (or arts) are divided into three types: Ninjitsu (Mind Arts), Taijitsu (Body Arts), and Genjitsu (Soul Arts). At the end of the Feudal Era, with the unification of the clans into 2 factions, the solo ninjas were unified into 5 Clans (each named for a Killer of Man): Fire, Lightning, Stone, Edge, and Poison. Together with a ruling ninja family known as the Palm, the 5 clans became known as The Hand.

Lightna:
Counterpart of: Elektra
Real Name: Oiwa Samon
Biography: Oiwa Samon, codename: “Lightna”, is a ninja and the second-born daughter of Dendou Samon I, patriarch of the Lightning Clan. She is the younger sister of Osode “Thundra” Samon and older sister of Dendou “Lightno” Samon II. While learning from Oiwa’s uncle “Thunderer”, young ninja apprentice Rei Hamasaki fell hard for Oiwa, and she him. Rei was about to complete his training, but they gave way to their feelings and made love. When Dendou I learned of his youngest daughter’s deflowering, he sent his elite ninjas to kill Rei. When the Palm of the Hand, supreme leader of the ninja guild, asked why his ninjas attacked Rei, Dendou told him that Rei “raped” his daughter. Rei was banished from the Hand, which led him to becoming the vengeful ninja hero Gamushara. Oiwa resented her father for what he did to Rei, which led to side more with her sister Osode’s misandrist way of thinking.
Dendou I was later assassinated, and the council believed Oiwa and Osode were conspiring against him. The sisters forced themselves to leave the ninja regions to find the answers. Lightna battled Gamushara, believing that he killed her father in retaliation for his banishment. At the time, the assassin Bullseye was hired to kill Gamushara, so when Oiwa got in his way, he killed her with her own sword.
Powers: Super speed/agility/reflexes/senses/aim; martial arts prowess; wields dual swords. Prefers Taijitsu over the other two types.

Multiple:
Counterpart of: Multiple Man
Real Name: Kichigai Yurasu
Biography: Kichigai is a young member of the Fire Clan, training under the Thunder Ninja Yanari-sensei. Kichigai, slowly mastering the Fire Arts of Duplication, is on a team of Hand ninja trainees, which is composed of him, Yanari’s daughter Siren, and the young Edge Clan ninja called Shatterstar.
Powers: Super speed/agility/reflexes. Wields various ninja throwing-weapons.

“Limb Bouquet”- Creates up to 2 duplicates of his forearm(s) and/or lower legs attached to his elbow(s)/knee(s) and he can control.

Scorpion:
Real Name: Hanzo Sasori
Biography: Hired by a Mister F. Fujimoto, the unscrupulous editor-in-chief of the newspaper Shakuhachi, to capture the Spider-Man, Scorpion is a member of the Poison Clan of ninja. His father, a former clansman, forbade his son from joining the Hand as he did not wish him to live an assassin's life, but his request fell on deaf ears. Sasori became a deadly ninja, and master of the Apoidea Style of Poisonous Insect Ninjitsu. One of his finest students was the Wasp, who rebelled against the Hand for kidnapping her as a baby.
Powers: Super strength/speed/stamina/agility/durability/reflexes/senses/aim. Carries several ninja throwing-weapons.
Master of Apoidea-Style Ninja Arts:
“Scorpion Claws”- Chi flows from his hands, giving him an unbreakable grip.
“Shadow Shell”- His skin turns black as he absorbs all light in the vincinity, creating darkness.
“Volatile Brood”- Tiny, white scorpions made from chi emerge from his back and crawl to the nearest targets; they explode on impact.
“Summon Baron Scorpion”- A gigantic scorpion demon appears to follow Sasori’s commands. The demon has amazing strength and can fire a continuous spray of poison from its tail.

Root:
Counterpart of: Groot
Real Name: Unknown
Biography: Root is a mysterious member of the Earth Clan, trained under a Plant Ninja master called Blackheath. Not much else is known, other that he constantly repeats the phrase “I Am Root!”
Powers: Super strength/speed/stamina/agility/durability/reflexes/senses/aim. Carries several ninja throwing-weapons. Rather that assembling a collection of ninja arts, he dedicated himself to using only one Plant-Style art: “Resprouting from Leaves”. This art allows him to transform leaves (infused with his chi) into logs of any length. A leaf tipped with red means the log will be sharpened at one end, a leaf with a hole in the middle means a hollowed-out log, and a leaf split in half means a log split down the middle.

Bottom Row, L-R (Intendo [AIM]):
The European assassins’ guild known as Intendo (Latin for “intention” or “aim”) was formed in the Middle Ages as the need for the silent killings of rivals and threats arose in those warring times. Comprised of master assassins and soldiers with different specialties and varying levels of skill, the guild seeks payment after the deed is done, with a varying percentage of the profits (depending on the difficulty of the mission) paid to the High Council. Responsible for the most well known events in European history since then, Intendo and the noble families and businesses that controls it were betrayed to the European Union in the mid-1600s, and was forced to move their operations to the Orient, where they acquired even more talented killers for hire. Intendo’s first encounter with the superhero community (which originated in the Oriental coast) was when they were hired by the Red Skull to recover the pieces of an ancient treasure that once belonged to the Shinto Gods. This led the assassins to battle both the Regalia and the Men of Tendai.

Madoc:
Counterpart of: MODOK
Real Name: Sirous Madoc
Biography: Sirous Madoc is the latest descendant of Gwened Madoc, the Welsh prince who discovered the New World in the 1170s. Sirous, trained in both knighthood and sorcery since childhood, was inducted into his family’s role as an overseer of Intendo, the assassins’ guild. Using his wisdom and riches, Madoc successfully ruled over the guild with his 11-strong High Council. Madoc personally saw to the beheading of traitorous Czech Councilwoman Olinka Barankova, but not before she could reveal Intendo’s scrupulous businesses and agents to the European Union. Now outlawed in the West, Madoc ordered caravans of their weaponry, records, and fortunes to traverse the snowy Russian plains (to elude capture by the royal enforcers of various Union members) into the Oriental Coast. After a treacherous sail across the sea, Intendo rebuilt their empire on the Islands of Japan. The entirety of Intendo’s assassin army battled the Regalia and the Men of Tendai as Madoc used his magic to telekinetically reassemble the treasure the guild was hired to seek: a puzzle-box forged from mystically-attuned crystals. As the final piece was set in place, Captain Japan, using his magic mirror, reflected a ray of energy from the eyes of Cyclops into the crystals. The resulting explosion of energy scattered the puzzle pieces across the planet, instead of just the islands, so that they may never be used by evil again. The Intendo assassins who weren’t killed in the battle fled, and the guild finally dissolved. Madoc’s corpse was found without his head, and there was a trail of blood leading away from the neck…
Powers: Above-average strength/stamina/durability; expert swordsman; slightly limited skills in magic, which stems from a connection to the Creation and the Negation; wears armor and uses a sword and shield; high intellect and command over hundreds of loyal troops.

Bullseye:
Real Name: Oushi Manako
Biography: Oushi and his younger brother Taka lost their parents when their homeland of the Hitachi Province was first attacked by the bird demons known as the Tengu. The elders of the villages became teachers for a new generation of warriors: Strikers, Archers, and Gliders. Oushi enlisted into the Archer Battalion, training under Master Shichiro. Oushi and fellow student Juuitsu were at the top of their class, and they became lovers; relationships were looked down upon between warriors, so the two kept it secret. A priest of dubious repute from the village was attracted to Itsu, and knew of her relationship to Oushi. He pretended to be a trustworthy advisor to Oushi, so when the opportunity presented itself, the priest would take what he wanted. Oushi wrote a letter to Itsu and gave it to the priest to deliver it, but the priest read it, and learned of the secret location where he wanted to meet her. When Itsu read the letter and arrived at the location, the priest knocked her out from behind and dragged her to his hut. Oushi searched the entire province for her, and discovered her cold, lifeless body. When evidence of her being sodomized before her murder pointed to Oushi, he was brought before the province council for trial. Despondent to learn of someone framing him, he escaped custody and faced the priest he thought was his friend. Oushi figured that since the priest was the one who delivered the letter to Itsu, he could have read it and learned of their relationship. Threatened with his life, the priest sobbingly confessed to the rape and murder of Itsu. Learning this, Oushi released him… from the mortal coil with an arrow to the forehead.
Leaving the village forever, Oushi became an assassin, taking the name “Bullseye”. Building a reputation, Target was inducted into the assassins’ guild Intendo. After Intendo’s disbandment, he later was hired by the crime lord Kingpin to kill the ninja hero Gamushara. As for Oushi’s younger brother, Taka became a new archery student and later Hawkeye, a member of the Regalia. When the Regalia and Men of Tendai faced Intendo, Hawkeye and Bullseye did battle, with only Bullseye knowing their ture relationship.
Powers: Superhuman aim/agility/senses/reflexes/stamina. Can throw any small object with the most precise accuracy. Carries a bunch of shuriken in his uniform.

Taskmaster:
Real Name: Antonio Dominare
Biography: The assassin known as the Taskmaster is a totally enigmatic figure, and it is still questionable that his real identity is that of Italian merchant Antonio Dominare. What he does claim is true about him is his ability to mimic the movements and voice of any human he witnesses, though it is debatable whether or not he is an Empowered. Using his skills as a mercenary, Foreman’s ideology is mercurial, shifting to whatever option makes him the most money. While working with Intendo, Foreman was placed in charge of training new assassins. When Intendo battled the Regalia and Men of Tendai, Foreman was able to easily defeat both Stature and Colossus, despite their size and strength advantages. When Intendo disbanded, Foreman went back to regular mercenary work.
Powers: Superhuman speed/agility/stamina/reflexes/aim/senses; use of several weapons; photographic reflexes and voice mimicry.

Deathlake:
Counterpart of: Deadpool
Real Name: Sir Wallace Williamson
Alias: The Scot with the Chops
Biography: On every planet, there are several “hot-spots” where that planet’s connection to the fundamental forces of Creation and Negation are the strongest; Avalon, an island north of the United Kingdom, is one of those areas. Centuries ago, the perfect balance Creation and Negation converged into 2 metaphysical beings: the “Lady of the Lake of Greatness” (Creation) and the “Lord of the Lake of Death” (Negation). These two beings secretly presided over the events of the Kingdom’s history, and decided to hold a wager over who deserves to rule the islands and the beings who live there. They created two weapons, the “Alabaster Blade of Excalibur” (Lady) and the “Obsidian Sword of Calewelch” (Lord). In two hundred years the weapons would find their worthy wielders, Arthur Pendragon and Dane Witmund, respectfully, and they would do battle to see which is the greater mortal worthy of presiding over the United Kingdom from the throne of Avalon. Arthur and the Alabaster Blade won the day, and he and his descendants now rule the Emerald Isles. While the Lady and her Lake of Greatness ascended to the realm of the righteous deceased, the Lord and his Lake of Death faded into obscurity, taking the Obsidian Sword with him.
In the 1640s, King Charles I sent knights and mystics loyal to his Chamber of Investigations to see to a cosmological disturbance in northern Scotland, a sector of the UK. In the eye of a swirling, black vortex, the soldiers found a lake of black liquid, with a rock formation in the center with a black sword piercing it. The king’s mystics reveal the true nature of the sword, saying that the wielder is forever bound to the sword and forced to live another year for every drop of blood the blade tastes. Just then, a horde of trolls and dragons attacked the knights, slaying most of them. A Scottish knight named Wallace Williamson was forced to seize the Obsidian Sword for the first time in centuries, and he used its magic to destroy the monsters. Another troop of knights reported to the area as the vortex dispersed and the Lake of Death gone, showing only the bodies of the fallen and Wallace holding the cursed item. Wallace, believed to be the killer of his fellow knights, was imprisoned, while the Obsidian Sword was kept away in a secret vault, hidden beneath parliament.
As Wallace awaited trial in a holding cell, he could feel his skin tearing and eroding as the blood dried in his veins. After tearing off chunks of flesh from his face, he could see the vision of a blind-folded woman appearing to him. The woman introduced herself as “Aelita Ambrosius”, the witch who trained Dane Witmund to wield the Obsidian Sword while her brother, Merlin the Wizard, taught Arthur to use the Alabaster Blade. Whether or not this was merely a hallucination or a true spiritual calling, Aelita told Wallace that he would soon die if the Sword didn’t taste human blood while he held it. Wallace tore off his own arm in order to fit through the bars, and he could sense his body growing stronger as he neared the weapon, using it as a guide to find the secret vault. A group of guards surrounded him as he took hold of the hilt, and sliced all of their heads off in one swing. Wallace felt rejuvenated as the blade absorbed the blood (his arm grew back, too), and he escaped the resulting manhunt. Taking the name “Deathlake”, after the origin of the sword, the mad Wallace became a mercenary and member of the assassins’ guild Intendo. He’s quite the skilled warrior, despite suffering from the occasional psychotic break that causes him to talk to no one who’s there. When Intendo moved their HQ to Asia, Deathlake clashed with, on several occasions, Wolverine, a Chinese member of the Men of Tendai.
When the Lady of the Lake of Greatness realized that there was a new wielder of the Obsidian Sword, she sent four spirits (in human form) to find Wallace and destroy the weapon. These spirits are known as Empathy, Reach, Strength, and Legacy.
Powers: Super agility/speed/reflexes/senses; expert swordsman; the Obsidian Sword regenerates Deathlake’s flesh by consuming human blood.
