Wausau's Paper cube of 500? Hahaha, I used that one because it's easy to fold, comes in a variety of colors and already in squares. I've gone through two of those blocks myself. Good job on the cranes, love the setup and the black border was a nice touch.

Wow beautiful arrangement. I love how the wings look like the petals of flowers. It's one thing to make so many cranes, but I think it is an even greater feat to produce such a beautiful photo in order to show them off. I admire this work greatly!

My mom folded a bunch for an art exhibition when she was...young and starving (she was a printmaker, so she folded a bunch of her prints into cranes). Then she taught me when I was a kid.
They're actually sitting in my coffee table right now (it looks like a shadow box).

It took 3 years...Don't get me wrong but you must have taken extended periods of breaks...I think if you worked non-stop on this it could be done in a day ( well, it takes me about 3 minutes to make one ).
But the arrangement of colours looks great, I see that they are put in the correct order of the rainbow which gives a nice transition from one colour to its neighbour.

...yeah. I get obsessed with them for about a month or so, and then I'm really productive. After that, I get tired of folding and don't make any for another month. It still does take me a while to finish each crane too, because I keep trying to perfect them up to a certain standard.
Thanks! I've had the chromatic-order-OCD since I was young, and I couldn't resist. I have some different colors of paper that will eventually be put in to make the transitions even more smooth.

Very nicely done. I'd put a simple black border on it to pull it all together.

It is a nice idea, and I'm sure it looks really great in white. But my idea was that all of the colors of light combine to make white light, like the center. When they're strung, I'll probably put that one at the top.

love this such neat colors ...and that you made them all is awesome!!! are they hard to fold ?

redglassfire In reply to steelangel [2007-09-09 06:02:14 +0000 UTC]
Thanks a lot! No, they're not really hard to fold. I actually know very little about origami itself. But once you know how to fold paper cranes, it isn't hard to make 1000.
