It seems that while the left has California (and thus Hollywood), the right has control of the government.

Imagine thinking a massive billion dollar industry controlled by private companies is left wing.

Fair point,Β Hollywood's more like left-leaning libertarians, or classical liberals. TheyΒ only pretendΒ to support socialism when it's convenient for them.

The movie industry is right wing and capitalist in it's mindset. It is owned by right wing capitalists who main interests is in making a profit.

Just because someone supports capitalism that doesn't mean they're "right wing". Just like not everyone who supports socialism is necessarily far left.

I would call that a nice straw-man, but that would be giving it too much credit.
The reason why capitalists and right wingers aren't the same thing is that by definition, right wingers support some combination of authoritarian social policies and free enterprise. For example, social conservatives would be considered "right wing" even if they don't support capitalism because they support the enforcement of traditional family values and social hierarchies.
Classical liberals support capitalism, yet they are not right wing because they support "limited government", and believe that people should have the freedom to make their own decisions as much as possible, regardless of the harm caused to cultural traditions, which isΒ in direct contradiction of the conservative philosophy.

Not to mention that they want to ban assault rifles when gun violence only causes less then 3% of deaths in the US (More than Half of which are suicide, which happens regardless of guns).

Of course they want to ban guns, that way nobody can rebelΒ if millions of Americans are homeless and starving to death.
