Great shot. Is this digitally edited at all? If not, how you got the background to be black in a european church will remain a wonder to me, considering I toured Europe all summer.

It is touched up a bit, but not much. It is not hard to get a black background...those churches usually do not have the brightest lighting. So just used a low shutter speed. Picks up the light of the candels quick, but nothing else.

Very nice. I must say, what makes the picture is that you made it a double. It would not have had the same impact if it were by itself.

I love the comment for this, and the thought behind it...i'm not sure what the candels are supposed to represent though, i mean is there a particular reason you thought of putting candels in here? it'd be cool if you explained that...although the picture is cool too, but dreams and nightmares are very different...maybe one side could have been "dreamier" and one side could have been "nigh mareier" ? hehe...just a thought, and i'm being overly picky, and i know you probably meant for them to be the same...after all, symetricality only make a picture more beautiful...in any case, i like the job you've done on this...

Well I normally do not like to explain things because I do not want to tell you what you are supposed to get from the picture. Instead I just set up a base, and yet you take it for what you will. There is no wrong way to see it.
But if you want to know how I see it, or at least the purpose...
Those candel (and I guess you would have to have visted a couple churches in europe to know this) are in a church. The idea is what you pray and light a candel and your prayer stays with that candel. I was simpley asking what happens to that prayer when the candel dies.

why am i always listening to songs about hell or the devil when i come across pictures of churches that has to be bad luck or soemthing... great shot though i love the blue.

Nice concept here. It seems as if you're presenting dreams and nightmares as identical experiences, both expiring at some point in time. As in everyone else's comments, I also enjoy your use of blue in this pic.

Ya something like that...this is actually one of those tables they have in churched where you light a candle and say a prayer with it. I was really just wondering what happened to those prayers when the candle burned out. Although what you said fits in, as to have dreams you must first have nightmares, or at least something to wish for.

Once the wick goes out, Then I suppose it's time to go to sleep, and do the actual dreaming

Ah. Then I guess it doesn't work as well as I thought it would. It does work well like this, so no problem. I suppose this emphasizes power, brings the darkness to the foreground in a sense. And that is as good a message as any, the strength gained from those candles.
