Description Here it is, my 100th deviation. *pauses for applause and only hears crickets* ah well.

James and the Giant Peach is on e of my favorite Roald Dahl books. I started work on this fanart back in with sketches and some colored characters but when I saw that my next deviation was going to be my 100th I decided to finish this one. Actually I started from scratch. I took all the sketches and inked them in illustrator, block colored in Photoshop and then really put a lot of Corel Painter time into it. All in all I'd say I put in at least 12 -16 hours into this.

I'll post some detail shots soon. I am especially proud of Mrs Ladybug's sweater, all the cabling and knitting stuff was painted, and Mr. Earthworm.

[edit]

I decided to make the file a bit bigger so you can see the details a bit better.

I can understand now why black and white just don't click LOL I don’t mean that as rude of course but it makes sense now.

Woot! 100th dev. This one looks great, you put a lot of detail into it. I love james and the giant peach, but I never knew it was a book. Awesome job

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

reed682 In reply to XVoodoo-LishusX [2006-03-02 16:22:17 +0000 UTC]

Yeah the book was written by Roald Dahl. He also wrote Charlie and the Chocolate factory, the magic finger, The BFG, the Minipins and lots of others. You should read it, the book is always better.

I remember seeing these. I love how you decided to almost design the characters as indirect take-offs of the designs from the film, instead of being inspired by them!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

reed682 In reply to andrewk [2006-03-02 15:04:28 +0000 UTC]

I tried patching in things I liked from the books as well. Some of the characters are more original than others, but yeah I liked the movie a lot and the way they designed the characters.

Thanks for the comment.

100 deviations? Good grief! You're certainly speeding up the ranks, aren't you?
And what a wonderful 100th it is, too. I was wondering when all the James and the Giant Peach sketches would be coming together... and come together they did. It certainly fits together well.
All the little details and things are great- every time I look at it, I pick out something I didn't see before. It's vibrantly coloured, extremely well drawn...
I'm afraid I'll have to favourite it.
