Beautiful shot. 
Windsor Castle was where Henry Howard (1517-1547), Earl of Surrey, was imprisoned for several months in the summer of 1537, after allegedly hitting Henry VIII's brother-in-law, Edward Seymour, during a heated squabble. It was during his exile that Howard wrote two of his most famous poems, "When Windosr Walls Sustained My Wearied Arm" and "So Cruel a Prison".

It got a DD because a gallery moderator featured it, or course!
I thought everyone knew that GMs are the ones who give DDs...

Well, the description of why it got a DD says that it's a perfect angle and a white sky (meaning it's easy to cut out and put into a photmanip). Also, it's a nice clear image, which makes it usable.
