Beautiful work! This is an excellent piece.
I love the splashes - were they brushes or did you paint them by hand? They really add to the piece in general. And the water going up the front leg was a very creative touch, too.
Fantastic work with the patches of white, they add a great touch and really make the manip "pop," if you will. A few edges on the patches are a bit straight and sharp (for example on the legs) compared to the rest. Perhaps if you fixed that it would seem even more natural.
I love the tail, it flows nice and free with the correct amount of highlights. The mane isn't as good just for the fact that the ends don't "fade out" and are a little stick-like. Are you using pen pressure on your tablet? If not, search for tutorials. It's really helpful - however much pressure you use with your pen, that's how dark or thick the line you're drawing appears. So it's really helpful for getting manes and tails to really flow and just look natural. Try using a smaller brush, too.
The eye looks very nice, the color matches perfectly with the rest of the image.
I would think that there would be more of a reflection in the water rather than a shadow - perhaps a darker reflection, kind of half-shadow and half-reflection, but that could just be me.
I'm not sure about the lighting. Something just seems...off. Perhaps it's because the light seems to be in the clouds behind the horse while the near side of the horse is lit up as though the light is coming from directly above.
Overall, this is really great! Keep up the excellent work
