Amazing design and graphics! The magazine doesn't really stand out a magazine to me that would hold bullets. It could easily be a power pack if this were to be an energy based rifle, like plasma/laser/blaster bolts.

Abating negative criticism here, the graphics are exceptional. Even though it looks bulky it does not necessarily need to be made of heavy crap - all of this could weigh 5 pounds considering futuristic materials and normal carbon composites (for the barrels, which are often the bulk of a weapon's weight - woven graphene over aluminum and steel barrels in successive layered sleeves).
As for the caliber... ive always been partial to the Subsonic 9mm VSS round, which provides as much penetration as an assault rifle and accuracy out to 300 yards (if you're wwilling to adjust for drop). As for stopping power, it can be a tumbling round, its 9mm and makes up for velocity with mass.
Or whatever caliber you like - you could do the same thing with 7.62mm making it a very long rod-like 7mm slug with a few friction bands on the edges to accept rifling. The ballistic coefficient would be through the roof and it would be a boat tail slug too.

magazine looks like it hold 7.62 rounds at least.
SMGs use pistol rounds. what you have created here is not a SMG but a SBR a short barrel rifle

Those rebels must be on an industrial planet.

Seems a little overkill for something built by rebels.
"Rebels" tend to have much more strained resources, so why have two barrels with twice the fire rate when you could arm two men instead?

The magazine says assualt rifle to me. Also, the magazine is right on top of the handguard. Not comfortable, or particularly practical. (I would hate to have to switch mags on that thing. Or even fire it.) It looks real and the workmanship you have here is good, but...sorry the useability really breaks the illusion for me.
