Description I am painting a batch of color shifting "Curled dragons" today. These are not finished, they don't have their eyes or jewels( or the globe) yet but this is what the color shifting paint looks like.
I also detailed these dragons with normal acrylic paint in both dark green and purple -in addition to the color shift paint. These two normal colors alternately blend in and contrast with the colors of the shift paint so the areas of contrast change when you move the dragon.
This is where I need a video of the effect.
( Here is a link to the curled dragon sculpture in a different color so you can see what they are gonna look like when finished with the eyes jewel and globe [link] )
These are gypsum reproductions of my original sculpture produced by Windstone Editions.

Sweet mother of god color shifting paint is upwards of 600 USD a PINT. You truly go to such incredible lengths for what you do.

I want to use this paint on a cosplay of an Elite from Halo. I think it'd make some amazing armor.

And it was this kind of thing that you've done with the dragons that always attracted me to the displays of your critters and kept me going "OOOH I WANT!" and I still want. *whines at her bank account*

When can we buy them! Gosh these are bound to be awesome when they are all finished! I've seen a few of those cars on the road over the years, with the color shifting paint... I always stare so hard @.@ Someday I will paint my car like that!

The dragons will be for sale here, when they are finished: [link] This paint is neat, but this paint isn't quite as impressive on a little dragon as it is on a big, smooth, moving object like a fancy car!

Wow, did you have to sculpt each and every one of those, and THEN have to paint them? If so, you are the definition of quick and amazing! By the way, I love the little Poads and will definitely be looking forward to buying one of those adorable little guys!

Anytime! Are they a certain combination of two animals? To me, they appear as a parrot and a guinea pig, but I may be wrong. Am I?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Reptangle In reply to GoblinCatVel [2012-02-26 19:55:33 +0000 UTC]

You are right. They are a roughly parakeet/guinea pig combination, though their bottom is invented. Guinea pigs don't have bums like that.

I always assumed the eyes got put in as the sculpture was being made/before it was painted! But I guess this makes much more sense. Do they just fit in there and do you have to glue them in or something?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Reptangle In reply to Nhaar [2012-02-24 06:55:02 +0000 UTC]

They fit into the eye socket and we glue them in place.

I got a GB Uni in this paint, and I can vouch for this paint looking very awesome and not having any justice done by photographs! I'm definitely going to try my best to get my hands on one of these dragons when they go into the shop... Hopefully their release doesn't crash the shop They seem to be the biggest news since the GB Poads! lol

Reptangle In reply to KaytanaPhoenix [2012-02-24 06:59:15 +0000 UTC]

I try to make enough of these so that everyone can relax a little, and the store doesn't crash.

I know demand for these will be high, but hopefully not the 200 people constantly refreshing the page - high demand for the sites sake, lol... looks as though you have a good number of them in the works shouldn't be long for them to sell out, but I do hope they'll be more relaxed than the gb uni's went for.. but from what I've seen since, the way the gb uni's went is a rarity for the site to go through, lol

I'm very happy to know they're coming a head of time! I know to keep funds set aside specifically for them, since they're currently at the top of my 'want' list

Tis a clutch of a particularly fertile female dragon me thinks. Fascinating diet though, it must be chewing on gems.
