I did this one by making a template that allowed me to put the shading around the van first so leaving a bright white siloet to draw in then just had to put the dark bits into it. I was going to draw a VW Beetle in the reflection but I couldnt pull it off so just did the trees, need a bit more practice before I can do that sort of work.I did this on A3 Bristol board super smooth I used HB, H2, H4, H6, H7 and H5 and my selection of rubbers to get the hi lites

A Brickie! I have been looking for a picture of a nice custom model with a good paint job to use as a refference pic, may end up using any old T3 from a good angle then draw it as I want to see it. Watch this page!!!

This is great but it also reminds me of my age. We won't go there. I love the shiny, relective parts. The tires could use a bit more tread. Going back to the age thing - the hippies, when I was very young at the time, used to paint these vans psychedelic colors. It was the rage. Anyway, you did a great job drawing it and I love it!

Had a lot of enjoyment drawing this one, I remember back in the early 70's you couldnt give these things away as no one wanted them I even turned a couple down from friends that wanted rid of the older split screen ones (if I only knew then what I know now eh?) Now you need a mortgage here in GB to buy one even a wreck will set you back an obscene amount.
This one was scnned and it reflects light off the heavy graphite areas so makes things look bare of graphite etc, dont scan now just use a camera and then crop it before submitting.

Jeff man, these things are so hard to draw! They seem easy to the untrained eye, but they're really one big mirror! Doing this must have been very difficult, it's a shame that you couldn't pull the Beetle reflection off, it would have been a heroic effort!

Thanks for the comments, they are hard to draw but git a load of enjoyment from it and I learnt a load also. I will give it another go and this time try the Beetle in the paint work of the van, I just didnt feel confident enough on this one

You sell yourself short! You're an excellent artist, far better to stretch yourself and fail than succeed but never have tried! I know how you feel about confidence, it's such a fickle thing to have and self-doubts are an artists worst enemy. I'm looking forwards to your next project!
