Description
Well, This month and next Adrea and I are doing research and development for Keepers of Wrath. I've looks and did several tests on DAZ, Unreal Engine, and Iclone for this.
DAZ, though is the wonderful render quality I have grown to love, is just not the best for animation. They have tools, don't get me wrong, but not quite as intuitive as say iclone. Plus render times are killer.
Did a short beginners course on Unreal Engine, created a short series of shots, awesome tools in this. However, I would need a lot more work to be able to learn it well enough to use. Possibly for scene 2.
Iclone is the winner for doing scene 1. I've played with it for about a year now on and off and it has the tools I believe will work well for doing my animation. The real time render quality can be ok with work. I love the idea and practice of being able to do my shots so quickly with no real concern on render times. Still, I do like their iray. But the full iray is just too long to use. I used the interactive mode and it was quicker and in this instance gave very nice results.
Still have a ton of work to do to get this working for me but I am encouraged.
Hope you like this short behind the scenes look at my progress.
