needs improvement:
the title being femininity, it would have more impact and higher visuality if she herself was actually more feminine: lace, long hair, maybe a little makeup but not so much that she looks like barbie, thicker longer lashes, maybe styled hair, things like that. she looks more tough or comfortable than feminine in my opinion and I dont feel the essence of femininity in it. the hand is also a little off.

good:
you captured her expression well and i like the texture about it. convincing shape, that part is plenty feminine enough. nice anatomy from what i can tell other than that hand (hands are soo hard!!) the way you paint hair looks nice. I also like the realistic natural look rather than barbie look. i also like the wrinkles in the clothes, the shading, and the simple but effective background that adds a tough of femininity.

First, thank you for taking the time to write me a critique! It means loads (:

I agree with you right off the bat about the hands-I suck at them. They're a common problem with most artists my age, but that's a poor excuse...
Second, though, about the femininity...I was trying to portray the idea that femininity is a natural sort of essence. Do you think that she looks too tough/comfortable? How do you suggest I remedy that? I'm not a fan of making her more "barbie" for the reason I said above.

Thank you for your kind words, as well as your critique!!

no problem! haha im not a fan of the barbie look either, like i said... thats why i said maybe some makeup but not too much ^^ After taking a second look I dont think she looks tough anymore but maybe a tad too comfortable to be really feminine? Idk i cant quite put my finger on it. long hair will always add femininity too--especially when it's wavy or curly--and allows for a natural look still. short hair is just more tomboyish by default nature. if you really want to stick with the look she has, however, id have painted her a little softer and delicate, maybe with a glow about it... sort of like this: [link] just the glow and "feel" not the style. idk... i just didnt get the feminine vibe from it heh sorry :V no offense or hurtfulness / disappointment intended! it really is good, much better than i do!

Hmmm. Alright. Oh, I'm not offended, no worries! I will have to give the "glow" a try. Thank you again for the critique!

Unlike the reviewer above, I like this, because I kinda see this almost as a revisionist piece, with the title contrasting with the woman in the picture. It's not traditionally uber-feminine, but the pose, the hair, and the features are all very feminine. I also suspect I see french racial characteristics in her face
It's a cool picture! I like it.

You're welcome! I kinda see what the reviewer was going for, but at the same time, it sounds a bit like they're criticizing it because the picture doesn't fit the common themes you'd expect from the title.
I'm pretty darn sure I am
