Description My babies are coming back with a shiny new name and coat of paint.

The Vereormorph (Dreadful/Fearful Shape) is a species of Extraterrestrial organisms from an unknown region in space. A creature who's biology cannot be classified to a group that exists on Earth, and one who operates in a Hive Mind system, Vereormorph's are highly aggressive and dangerous predatory creatures. Their life cycle begins as a parasitic Larvae that burrows into a victim in their sleep, causing a sharp stinging pain easily mistaken for an insect bite. The parasite will continue to grow in the host, feasting off nutrients the host intakes and copying strands of DNA from their host. When the parasite reaches full maturity, it will violently erupt from the host and continue to mature independently.
Vereormorph's have a consistently similar shape of four legged creatures with a serpent like body, digitigrade limbs, splitting lower jaws filled with backwards facing teeth, a muscular spring loaded tongue similar to Chameleons, soft cartilaginous crests growing off their head, webbed dorsal spines and a long prehensile tail ending in a large venomous stinger. Another unusual feature, is the clear presence of a secondary opening along the creatures underbelly, sternum and neck. From limited research, it appears to be what once was a functional mouth perfectly lined with teeth and tracts leading to the digestive system. However, this feature appears to be vestigial, long since abandoned for a more powerful and versatile primary mouth under its visual sensory organs.
Vereormorphs show no signs of higher intellect and operate on a consistently high aggression, attacking anything that would threaten their hive. Vereormorphs come in many different castes and shapes, always dependent on the host of each individual parasite, but are consistently dangerous and lacking any signs of empathy or remorse to their prey.

When I first joined Deviant Art, among the first things I posted were my Zillamorphs. A creature I made that was inspired by H.R. Geiger's famous Xenomorphs, but they honestly were little more than a Xeno with a lizard like head.

Now, they're crawling out of their hives with a newer, fresher look. I still want them to be an homage to the creatures that inspired them, but with my own touch, making them stand out on their own and looking more alien.

You have no idea how happy that makes me to hear

Because that's pretty much exactly what they're meant to be.

well you certainly nailed that on the head!

I love both Lovecraft and the Xenomorphs. so seeing a combination of the two is both a surprise and a awesome thing to see!

Glad to hear, because there's more fun to have with these dreadful figures!

And they aren't the only Lovecraftian creatures that are slowly invading my gallery.
Oh I can hardly wait hehehehe

Oh, I shall. I guarantee it.
Here's hoping others will enjoy seeing it as much as I enjoy making it.

The Xenomorphs neighborhood cousin

Pretty sure it's fair to say that if there was no Xenomorph, there would be no Vereormorph's.
My end goal is for them to show homage to the Xenomorph's nature and story, but clearly as their own creatures with a memorable design.

Hence why I'm leaning them more towards Lovecraftian design with the many eyes and more alien biology.

Yeah i agree with you, if it looked abit less like a vertebrae then it would seem almost primordial and the name would fit it the best with your add ins to the lovecraft stuff

Less Vertebrae you say?
Funnily enough, their back is meant to more resemble that of a Lobster, being all shell. But I'm guessing you're referring to the tail?

No worries, I can see how it'd be hard to tell with them having three webbed spinal columns and with it being all black and white.

But yeah, they are difficult to categorize due to the presence of so many contradicting biological traits. Is it a reptile? An Arthropod? A mammal? A form of Amphibian? An insectoid?
Who knows?

Well you're not wrong. They keep their softer body parts covered in a layer of mucus. Makes it harder for prey and predators to get a grasp on them.

Does this look alien to you?

Third individual who's said that.
Which I find surprising because it's not at all meant to be a dragon.

I'm guessing it's the cartilaginous horns?

Interesting.
The fins were meant to more resemble something like a Spinosaurus.
As for the posture, I wanted to give the impression that it's a flexible and stalking creature in its environment, moving to ambush prey rather than rush it.
